Arpinder Singh smashed the National Triple Jump record by around half a metre, highlighting his transition from junior champion to the country"s best. The very same year, Arpinder Singh won bronze in the Glasgow Commonwealth games underlining his potential to challenge the world"s best. Arpinder Singh is the 22-year old medallist who was only one of three Indians who won in the Athletics events. Currently he is taking the training in UK under the Sports Ministry"s lucrative Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Arpinder Singh is expected to easily match the 16.90 Olympic qualification mark.

Arpinder Singh is currently the national record holder in triple jump. Arpinder Singh has also claimed a bronze medal in the sport in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Arpinder Singh in 2014 National Inter-State Championships
In June 2014, Arpinder Singh beat his previous best of 16.84 metres by jumping 17.17 metres at the 2014 National Inter-State Championships in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In the process, Arpinder Singh beat the national record previously held by Renjith Maheshwary and also secured a qualification for the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won the bronze medal.
