Mehboob Alam Khan was born in Hyderabad in a noble family. He did his schooling from St. George’s Grammar School. Born into a family with regal background, Khan grew up in a household with a kitchen that fostered traditional ideas of cooking as well as ideas brought in from other regions across the country and the globe. Typically, the kitchen housed chefs from Goa, Mughlai and Khansama to cater to continental, Mughlai and Hyderabadi food preparations respectively. Mehboob Alam Khan indulged casually in cooking as a teenager and grew more conscious and serious about it after witnessing the event of fading away of traditions by the passage of time.
