Early Life of Sanaa Bhambri
She was born on 7 March 1988 in New Delhi, India. Sanaa received her school education from DPS. Later, she pursued BA (prog) in French and Philosophy. Both her sister Ankita and brother Yuki are also into this sport. Her cousins Prerna Bhambri and Prateek Bhambri are also professional tennis players.
Career of Sanaa Bhambri
Sanaa kick started her tennis career since her education days. In the year 2001, Sanaa won the ITF Junior (U-18) which held at Mumbai. In November, she won AITA Tennis Tournament in both the categories - Under-14 and Under-16, held at Delhi.
In 2002, she was a semifinalist at the ITF Junior under 18 which held at Kolkata. The tournament saw Sanaa represent India in the Asia Oceania World Youth Junior Tennis Tournament held at Jakarta, where she won a bronze.
Next partnering with ace tennis player Sania Mirza, Sanaa reached the semifinals of the 2003 French Open Girls' Doubles event. Then in 2005, she partnered with her sister Ankita Bhambri. Together the sisters won the $25,000 Lagos 2 ITF event. They won both their semi-final and final matches by seeing their opponents withdraw before a point was played.
Her only WTA Tour main draw appearances were at Kolkata at the Sunfeast Open, in each of the three years that the event was held - 2005, 2006 and 2007. She competed in doubles and lost in the first round each time.
From 2005 to 2010, Sanaa primarily competed in events in India and Thailand and earned 12 $10,000 ITF tournaments; two in singles and ten in doubles.
Sanaa won a triple crown (Women's Singles, Women's Doubles and Girls' Under 18s singles) at the 2004 DSCL National Championships which held in Delhi. As per record, she is the youngest player from India to achieve the feat.
