![]() Gayatri Waterfalls Gayatri waterfalls is a less known water body situated on Kadam River in Telangana. The river is a tributary of Godavari River- The Ganga River of the South. The waterfall found its habitat in a very secluded place inside a deep forest. Gayatri waterfalls are at a distance of approximately 5 Kilometres from Tarnam Khurd village, near Neredigonda of the Adilabad district of Telangana. The villagers in Adilabad district living around the waterfalls call it Gadidha Gundam or Mukdi Gundam. Gayatri waterfall is a definite treat to the eyes of the nature lovers to see. This stunning waterfall is plunging down from a height of 100ft into the valley to create a magnificent sight. ![]() Kanakai waterfall is located in Adilabad district of Telangana. The location of Kanakai Waterfalls is near a small village called Girnoor of the Bazarhatnoor Mandal. The falls is also called Kanakadurga waterfalls. The place has a special mention in the ancient history as well. People from nearby villages come to this place to offer their prayers to Goddess Kanaka Durga, in the temple located near this waterfall. This waterfall area also acts as a nature tourism site and also as the pilgrimage tourism site. Kadam Dam The main purpose of Kadam Dam is to irrigate close to 25000 hectares in Adilabad district of Telangana. Kadam Dam also acts a nature tourism site as a large number of birds are attracted. Also known as the Godavari North Canal project, the structure of Kadam Dam was built between 1949 and 1965. The dam’s location in the midst of scenic hillocks and greenery makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers. Kadam Dam is also accessible easily to tourists due to its proximity to the Secunderabad-Manmad railway line. ![]() Hussain Sagar is an artificial lake in Telangana. This lake was built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in the year 1562, during the rule of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah. It is spread across an area of 5.7 square kilometres and is fed by Musi River. A large monolithic statue of the Gautama Buddha, erected in 1992 stands in an island in the middle of the lake. The maximum depth of the lake is 32 feet. Pocharam Dam Pocharam Dam is located at a distance of 14.6 kilometres from Medak District of Telangana. The Pocharam Dam Reservoir is a popular tourist destination of Telangana. This is also known as the Pocharam Dam Reservoir, it was constructed between 1916 and 1922 under the supervision of British Government in India and straddles the Allair River, a tributary of Manjira River. The site of the dam made foggy by the bubbly waters of the dam and being surrounded by verdant greenery is a scenic spot for a picnic. ![]() Mallela Theertham Mallela Theertham is in the middle of the dense forest. A walk down 350 steps is required to access the waterfall. Mallela Theertham flows best from the months of October to February. March to June is the dry season. The remaining months are rainy months, and it is very difficult to drive on the muddy road. The water comes from a small rivulet and from this area; it flows through the dense jungle and then meets the Krishna River. This place is near to Achampet. Mallela Theertham is a good place to hangout for a weekend to enjoy with the friends. As it is closer to Hyderabad, many students and employees come here to enjoy on their weekends. There are no adequate food facilities available here. ![]() Manjeera Dam Manjeera Dam is located at a distance of about 70 kilometres from Hyderabad, the capital city of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is an ideal picnic spot. One can spend quality time with family or friends at the Environmental Education Centre here. Another major attraction of Manjeera Dam is the crocodile-breeding pond, which has been set up for rehabilitation of crocodiles. The glistening waters of Manjeera Dam and the wildlife around make it an ideal picnic venue. |
