Early Life of Myron Fernandes Myron Fernandes was born on 2nd May in the year 1993. He is an Indian professional footballer who played as a forward for Dempo Sports Club in the I-League season. He was born in Mapusa in Goa. Early Career of Myron Fernandes Myron Fernandes started to play football from the age of nine years old. Earlier, Myron Fernandes was trained by then Churchill Brothers S.C player, Sebastian D’Costa, who was also his uncle. In school times Myron Fernandes played for the U14 side for St. Britto’s High School at the age of 11. Later, Myron Fernandes was selected to train at the Goa United Sports Academy under the coaching of Agostinho Dias. Then, at the age of only 15, Myron Fernandes was signed by Benny XI to play for the clubs senior side in the Goa First Division which is only a level below the Goa Professional League, the top-tier league in Goa. Myron Fernandes managed to score six goals for the club before being signed by Dempo Sporting Club to join their youth set-up. Later Career of Myron Fernandes In the year 2008, Myron Fernandes was selected to the Goa U15 National Football team to train in Portugal. While in Portugal, Myron Fernandes and Goa trained at the academy of Vitória S.C. and even played against the academy sides of S.C. Braga, S.L. Benfica, and Boavista F.C. for a week. After the stint in Portugal Fernandes was then selected, along with 13 other footballers from Goa, to train at the Manchester United Soccer Schools in Manchester, England. The next year, Myron Fernandes was the only Indian footballer selected for the "Gary Linekar scholarship" which saw him train for one week at the academy of Leicester City. In February 2011, Myron Fernandes was selected, along with team-mate Aniston Fernandes, to train at the academy of FC Midtjylland for three to four months. Myron Fernandes with Dempo Sporting Club Myron Fernandes made his professional debut for Dempo Sporting Club in the I-League on 29th September 2013 against Mumbai F.C. at the Balewadi Sports Complex in which he came on in the 92nd minute for Clifford Miranda as Dempo SC managed to only draw the match 1-1. |
