Manjeet Kaur is an Indian sprint athlete who hails from Punjab and specializes in 400 metres. She was born on 2nd April 1982 in Jalandhar, Punjab. She is the current 400 metres national record holder of 51.05 seconds which she created at the National Circuit Athletic Meet organized on 16th June 2004 in Chennai. She also broke the previous record of K. M. Beenamol held since November 2001. With this she also passed the qualifying mark for the 2004 Athens Olympics. She also formed the team along with K. M. Beenamol, Rajwinder Kaur and Chitra K. Soman which have the current National record in 4 x 400 metres relay. Manjeet Kaur was honoured with the esteemed Arjuna Award in the year 2005 for contributing in the field of Indian athletics.
Manjeet Kaur is an Inspector in the Punjab Police by profession. She represented India in 4 x 400 metres relay at 2004 Athens Olympics and her team established the current national record with a time of 3:26.89. In their heats, the team finished third. She again represented the country in 4 x 400 metres relay in the next Beijing Olympics. Her team in the tournament comprised Mandeep Kaur, Chitra K. Soman and Sathi Geetha and clocked a time of 3:28.83. The team finished seventh in their heats.
In Doha Asian Games of the year 2006, Manjeet Kaur led the Indian team in 4 x 400 metres relay, winning gold. Previously in the same event, she won a silver medal in Women’s 400 metres race. She bagged the gold medal in 4 x 400 m relay event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games along with Ashwini Akkunji, Sini Jose and Mandeep Kaur.
