The vast expanse of white sand at Ashwem beach is beautiful and the beach has still veiled itself from the commercial development, retaining its virgin natural beauty. It starts on the banks of river Chapora and extends for about 13 kilometres up to the banks of river Terekhol. The beach is quite deserted and do not have much water sport activities. However dolphin watching or fishing along with the local fishermen are enjoyable activities at the beach. The surrounding areas have lush landscapes dotted with little villages, coconut grooves and paddy fields. The rocks of the Ashwem beach have been shaped by shellfishes rendering them unique shapes. The isolated beach is ideal for those who wish to spend some alone time amidst the beauty of nature. Several beach shacks can be located on the beach where the visitors can relax and have a refreshing time. Local restaurants near the beach serve delicious sea food delicacies which can be enjoyed by food lovers. The beach is very clean and well maintained. The golden white sands of the beach with occasional interruptions of inlets, estuaries and headland invite the nature lovers to cherish an idyllic ambience. Visiting Information Ashwem beach is best visited between the period of October and June. It has little resorts for the accommodation of tourists. However, huts nestled in groves of tall palm trees are the most ideal for a delightful time. Pernem serves as the nearest railway station and Dabolim Airport is the nearest airport. Buses and private cabs can also be availed by the tourists. |
