When love becomes intense, pressing with the nails and scratching the body occurs. It is usually done at the following occasion like on the first visit, at the time of commencing a journey, return from a journey, at the time of reconciliation of an angry lover and last but not the least when the woman is intoxicated.
But pressing with the nails is only usual with those who are intensely passionate. Sometimes it is accompanied by biting and the practice is very pleasurable to man and woman. The pressing with the nails according to the forms of the marks produced can be divided in to the following eight kinds: The places where the nail should be pressed are as follows the armpit, the throat, the breasts, the lips, the jaghana or middle parts of the body, and the thighs. According to Suvarnanabha when the passion is extreme and love becomes reckless the place need not be considered. The good nails are those that are bright, well-set, clean, entire, convex, soft, and glossy in appearance. According to their sizes nails can be divided in three different kinds: Small: The people of the southern districts possess small nails, which can be used in various ways, and are to be applied only with the object of giving pleasure. Large: large nails have a elegant look and it usually give grace to the hands as well as attract the hearts of women from their appearance. Middling: These types of nails contain the properties of both Sounding or pressing with the nails: When a person presses the chin, the breasts, the lower lip or the jaghana without leaving any mark or scratch on the body, but the hair of the body becomes erect from the touch of the nail and thus making a sound, it is called a sounding or pressing with the nails. This pressing is also used in the case when a man shampoos a young girl, stretches her head and wants to trouble her. 'Half moon' is usually is a curved mark with the nails, which is imprinted on the neck and the breasts. When the half moons are impressed opposite to each other, it is called a 'circle'. This mark can be seen on the navel, the small cavities about the buttocks, and on the joints of the thighs. A mark, which can be made on any part of the body in the form of a small line, is called a 'line'.This same line, when it is made on the breast and curved in nature, is called a "tiger's nail".When a curved mark is made on the breast by means of the five nails, it is called a 'peacock's foot'. Doing this mark requires a great skill to make it properly. 'The jump of a hare' is the sign of five marks with the nails and it is usually made close to one another near the nipple of the breast. A mark, which is made on the breast or on the hips in the form of a blue lotus leaf, is called the 'leaf of a blue lotus'. 'Token of remembrance' is a mark made on thighs, or on the breast on the occasion of a person going out on a journey. These marks are seen together as three or four lines lying close to one another. Other than the above stated marks there are some other types of marks that can be made by nails. According to Vatsayana variety in lovemaking is very important and to satisfy that variety one should be creative in making marks. There is no boundary as such. So one has to be passionate enough to augment the whole process by making marks on private parts of the body. These marks of nails should not be made on married women, but for the remembrance and increase of love particular kinds of marks can be made on their private parts. There are also some verses on the subject, as follows: 'The love of a woman who sees the marks of nails on the private parts of her body, even though they are old and almost worn out, becomes again fresh and new. If there be no marks of nails to remind a person of the passages of love, then love is lessened in the same way as when no union takes place for a long time.' Even when an unfamiliar person sees at a distance a young woman with the marks of nails on her breast, he is filled with love and respect for her. A man, also, who carries the marks of nails and teeth on some parts of his body, influences the mind of a woman. In short, nothing tends to increase love so much as the effects of marking with the nails, and biting. When a man is seen with the marks of nails and teeth on some visible parts of his body, the other women become attracted to him. We can conclude in the way that marking with the nails and biting are the most effectual for the increase of love and passion. |
