Churches of Gujarat are famous as the monuments of cultural and historical significance. The prevalent Christianity in Gujarat had been sheltered in these churches since ages. St. James Church
St James Church, located in Baroda, is also known as the White Church. The church is among the oldest churches of India. The architecture of the church exhibits a gothic style of 19th century. However, influences of classical style of architecture are also evident in the low pitched roof of the roof. The church is dedicated to James Sutherland Esquire who was the Political Commissioner for `Guzerat` and Resident at the Court of Highness the `Guicoward`.
Shahpur Methodist Church
Shahpur church was established in April 1973. It is also associated with a social centre.
The elegant Churches of Gujarat exhibit extremely graceful architecture, mostly having a gothic style. However, combination of other architectural styles can also be seen in these churches.
