Ganesh Tok is a small Hindu deity temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The construction of the temple started around the year 1952 and was completed in 1953 under the efforts of Shri Appa B. Pant, who was the former political officer of Sikkim. Adorned with colourful prayer flags hoisted and tired across the roads, the path to Ganesh Tok almost resembles a rainbow.
Located near Tashi View point, Ganesh Tok was built 7 km above Gangtok. It offers a bird’s eye view of the town below and a spectacular panorama of the Khangchendzonga range, world’s 3rd highest peak, in the horizon.
Architecture of Ganesh Tok
The Ganesh Tok is so small that it can only accommodate one person at a time. The inner sanctorum of the temple has the devotees crawl to reach Lord Ganapati in the temple. At the side of the temple lies a viewing lounge with a circular balcony to soak in the scenic beauty of the vast green expanses.
