Railways Cricket Association is the administrative body for the cricket related activities of the Indian Railway Services and the Railways cricket team. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The Railways Cricket Association is responsible for promoting, supporting and developing Cricket by conducting numerous League Tournaments, Tournaments for the age group Under-19, Under-22 and Under-25 categories besides organizing and conducting National Tournaments. They enjoy their cricket.
The history of, the Railways Cricket Team, which is under Railway Cricket Association, does not have very happy picture to project, but they have indeed tasted success in the Ranji Trophy in recent years.
Competition History of Railway Team
The team of Railways was mostly forgotten by people and cricket enthusiasts due to their sorry state of affairs in the game of cricket. Until recently, when they actually started to show some grit and determination on the field, no one was bothered about the team. Most recently the Railways Team has tasted success in the Ranji Trophy. They are emerging team and have won the trophy twice and become runners-up once since the year 2000. They have been extremely successful in the Irani Trophy, backing up their two Ranji wins with two Irani victories. They have defeated some of the best teams in various tournaments.
