National School of Drama (NSD) screening test is conducted for getting admissions in its three years Post Graduate Diploma in Dramatic Arts. The academic session of National School of Drama is mainly divided into two terms. First term is from July to December and the second term is from January to May.

National School of Drama offers a comprehensive three year training course in Dramatic Arts with specialization in acting, stagecraft and direction. After the successful completion of the course programme, the students are awarded Diploma in Dramatics. This Diploma in Dramatics from National School of Drama is equal to any Post-Graduate Degree. This diploma also makes the candidates eligible for appointment as teachers in various colleges and universities of the country and they can also apply for further Ph. D programmes. This Diploma in Dramatic Arts has been recognised by the Government of India.
Pattern of National School of Drama (NSD) screening test
National School of Drama (NSD) screening test is conducted in two stages and they are -
Stage I: In this first stage, the screening consists of an audition or a practical test of the aspirants at the four centres of the institute that are in Delhi, Kolkata, Bangaluru and Mumbai.
Stage II: At this phase, the candidates who successfully clear the first round need to go through a 3 to 5 days workshop organized on the campus of NSD, New Delhi.
Selection Process of National School of Drama (NSD) screening test The final selection of the candidates is made on the basis of the performance and potential shown by the aspirants in the workshop. Their performance in both the phases decides their admissions to the three years training course in Dramatic Arts.
