The professional degree courses include medical, dental, homeopathic, veterinary, engineering, forestry and agricultural courses. This entrance test is conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) Board. It is organized for selection of the eligible candidates into the first year of Engineering, Medical and Agricultural degree courses. These courses are offered in various government funded as well as private institutes or colleges in the state of Jharkhand.

Application Forms for Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE)
The candidates willing to sit for Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) can obtain from the prescribed post offices by paying the requisite amount that includes the prospectus cum examination fee. Along with the requisite fee, the candidates need to pay some additional amount as processing charges of the post office (dispatch fee and receipt fee). The candidates should note that they need to send the completed application forms via the same post office. The candidates can also download the application forms from the official website of the organizing Board. In that case, they need to send a bank demand draft of the examination fee along with the completed application forms. The bank demand draft should be drawn in favour of "Examination Controller, JCECEB" payable at Ranchi.

Eligibility Criteria for Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE)
The minimum eligibility criterion required for appearing in the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) is that the candidates need to pass the 10+2 examination or any equivalent examination from a recognized Board. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English are the mandatory subjects that a candidate should have in the 10+2 level. The minimum age criterion is 17 years.

B.E courses
For admissions in B.E degree programme, the candidates should have passed 10+2 or any equivalent examination under a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as core subjects. However, there is no age limit.

MBBS/BDS courses
For getting admissions in MBBS or BDS courses, the candidates need to have passed 10+2 or any equivalent examination under a recognized Board. A minimum of 50% marks is required for entering these degree courses. The core subjects that the candidates need to have in the 10+2 level are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with an aggregate of marks in all the subjects. The minimum age limit is17 years.

BVSc & AH courses
For getting admissions in the BVSc and AH courses the candidates should have passed the10+2 examination or any equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. The minimum age limit is 17 years.

BSc Agriculture & BSc Forestry
For admissions in BSc Agriculture & BSc Forestry, the candidates should have passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination under a recognized Board, with a combination of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology as core subjects. The candidate`s minimum age should be 17 years.

Pattern of Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE)
The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) is usually conducted in two separate stages - Preliminary examination and the Final examination. The candidates who clear the Preliminary stage are eligible to appear in the Final round of examination. The two stages are as follows -

The preliminary test consists of a single paper with four different parts (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology). It carries objective types of questions and the duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes and it carries total of 200 questions. There is negative marking system in this preliminary round.

After the first round, a list is prepared for both medical and engineering carrying the names of the candidates clearing the preliminary exams. It is prepared on the basis of the marks secured in the preliminary examination. The final round will be in three parts. In the final round, the candidates sit for the combination of subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Those candidates aspiring for the medical field sit for a combination of subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It follows the system of negative marking. Question pattern is objective type.

Syllabus for Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE)
The candidates who are appearing for Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) need to prepare for four main subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Like for instance, the Engineering candidates should have to prepare for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics whereas medical candidates should have to prepare for Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. The syllabus is that of the 12th standard.
