Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test is the common entrance test conducted for admissions into undergraduate engineering, agriculture, medical and dental courses. This entrance test is organized in the state of Jammu & Kashmir by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BPEE) under an Act of the State Legislative. Under the State Legislative Act, the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations is assigned with the responsibility of conducting this state level entrance test. The main intention of organizing Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test is to determine the eligibility or merit of the participating students who are seeking admission to several undergraduate professional courses. These degree programmes are offered by a number of institutes (both Government aided as well as affiliated private colleges) of Jammu and Kashmir. These participating institutes of the state accept the merit ranking of the students in this entrance test for admission into their various degree programmes.
Application Forms for Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test
The candidates can obtain the Information Brochure and the application forms from the District Headquarters of certain designated branches of the Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd. For obtaining the forms, the candidates need to pay the requisite amount. Candidates can also download the application forms from the official website of the conducting Board. Along with the completed application forms, they need to send the attested photo copies of their mark sheets, permanent residence certificate, birth proof certificates, etc. All the details are given in the information brochure.
Eligibility Criteria for Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test
The minimum eligibility criterion required for appearing in the Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test is a pass in the 10+2 or its equivalent examination recognised Board of Secondary Education with a minimum of 50% marks in total. Moreover, the candidates need to be a permanent resident of this state and the minimum age limit is 17 years.
For MBBS, BDS, BVSC, Animal Husbandry, BUMS and BAMS Courses
For these degree courses, the candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as major subjects.
For B. Sc Agriculture and B. Sc Forestry Courses
For these degree courses, the aspirants need to have a pass in the 12th standard examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology as core subjects.
For Bachelor of Engineering Courses
For engineering course, the candidates should have a pass in the HSC examination with an aggregate of minimum percentage in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as elective subjects.

Pattern of Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test
This entrance test comprises 3 papers with objective types of questions consisting of multiple choices. Each of the paper carries 75 questions and they measure the knowledge skills, understanding and applications of the concerned subject. Each of the questions carries one mark and there is no system of negative marking. The three papers and the subjects are listed below -
• MBBS, BDS, B. V. Sc & A.H, BAM S, BUMS - Physics, Chemistry & Biology (75 questions from each subject), each one and a half hour duration
• B. Sc (Agriculture) & B. Sc (Forestry) - Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics (75 questions from each subject), one and a half hour duration each
• B.E - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (75 questions from each subject), each one and a half hour duration

The final selection of the candidates for admissions in the various degree programmes is entirely based on the performance in the written test followed by group discussion and personal interview.
