The artisans are praised because of their skilled process of giving the wood items a lac finish. Sometimes the lac items are ornamented with coloured mirror and inlaying ivory. The process of lacquering is done by following some techniques and steps. The items are first coated with a yellow colour. This surface is then lacquered with red lac stick. An irregular colour pattern is achieved through this technique. A black border is then drawn around the article and the gaps are then filled with white colour to give the item a cloud effect.
