It is being promoted by a non-profit organisation, named the Malakara Jacobite Syrian Christian Education Trust that is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the realm of education. Affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, the college is aimed at providing quality dental education to the students of Kerala. The college is located attached to the 400-bedded Marbaselios Medical Mission Hospital and also to the Taulk hospital, Kothamangalam.

St. Gregorios Dental College, Ernakulam is an excellent institute of dental sciences with all the required facilities and it has seven well equipped Clinical departments. The college also has a full team of well experienced postgraduate teachers and paramedical staff. The dental specialty center located adjacent to the college offers most sophisticated treatment in all specialties of dental surgery, to the people of Kerala.

St. Gregorios Dental College, Ernakulam mainly offers the undergraduate course of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) to the students of Kerala. The college has an annual admission capacity of 40 students. The BDS course offered by the college is a 4.5 Years course and the students are required to fulfill certain criterions for getting admitted in BDS course in the college. The college also has several well equipped specialised departments that are helping immensely to provide quality dental education. Some of the major departments include the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Conservative and Endodontics, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Pedodontics and the department of Oral Medicine & Radiology.
