The MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (MSRINER), Bangaluru mainly offers four courses to the students including General Nursing & Midwifery, Basic B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc Nursing. All the courses are approved by the Karnataka State Nursing Council (KSNC) and the Indian Council of Nursing (INC), which are the apex professional bodies at the state and Central levels, for setting the standards for nurse education in India.

The MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (MSRINER), Bangaluru admits a total of 60 students in the Basic B.Sc in Nursing Course, every year. The course started in 1991 in MSRINER and the students desirous of getting admitted in the course are required to have passed the two year Pre-University examination or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with science subjects, Viz, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English. They are also required to obtain at least 45% of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying examination. However, the required percentage comes down to 40% for the candidates, belonging to SC/ST categories. For the students completing Vocational Courses, they should pass the 10+2 vocational course of State Government of Kerala with 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in addition to vocational subjects. The examination should be considered equivalent to 10+2 Examination/Karnataka Pre-University course form the academic year 2005-06 and onwards. The institute considers marks obtained by the candidate in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for assessing the eligibility as per the ordinances governing Basic B.Sc Nursing course of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). The candidates are also required to be aged at least 17 years at the time of admission.

`There are 60 seats available in General Nursing & Midwifery Course in the MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (MSRINER), Bangaluru. For getting admitted in the course, the candidates are required to have passed the PUC/PDC (10 + 2) with 35% aggregate marks preferably Science from recognized PU Board. The students passing Arts & Commerce PUC/PDC/10+2 with 35% aggregate marks can also apply for admission in the course. The candidates are required to be medically fit and should be aged between 17 to 35 years, at the time of admission.

The MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (MSRINER), Bangaluru admits 30 students in the Post Basic B.Sc in Nursing Course, every year. The students can get admission in the course if they hold a diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM), if they have a minimum of two years experience in a hospital or community health nursing, if they have passed pre-university examination in arts/science/commerce conducted by the Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka State or its equivalent and recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). If a candidate is registered as a nurse, he/she can also apply for admission in the course. The candidates are required to be medically fit, have good personal and professional record and they should not be aged more than 48 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.

According to the admission criterions for the M.Sc in Nursing Course in MS Ramaiah Institute of Nursing Education and Research (MSRINER), Bangaluru, the students are required to have passed in B.Sc Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing or Post Certificate B.Sc Nursing of RGUHS or any other University. The certificate should be accepted as equivalent by RGUHS and the candidates must have obtained a minimum of not less than 55% aggregate marks. For the candidates belonging to SC and ST, the required aggregate of marks comes down to 50%, instead of 55%. The candidates are required to have a minimum of one year of experience after obtaining B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or minimum of one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree or Post Certificate B.Sc. Nursing, in a hospital or in Nursing Educational Institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council. Apart from being medically fit, the candidates are also required to produce Eligibility Certificate from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangaluru. The course is offered in the specialities like Medical-Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing.
