MES Academy of Medical Sciences, Malappuram, KeralaThe MES Academy of Medical Sciences (MESAMS) is a renowned medical institute in Kerala that is being run and managed by the Muslim Educational Society (MES). The institute was established by the founder of the Society, Dr. Abdul Gafoor and it started its operations from 24th April, 2003. The institute is located in the Malappuram district of Kerala and has been working on achieving certain aims and objectives. The main objective of the institute is to provide quality education in the medical field. The institute has already obtained the necessary approval from the Medical Council of India (MCI), the State Government of Kerala and the University of Calicut.

The MES Academy of Medical Sciences (MESAMS), Malappuram is working with the vision of developing innovative teaching methodology in under graduate and post graduate dental education. The institute is offering the course in all the branches of medical science in order to deliver high standards of medical education and to promote research. The institute is also aimed at uplifting the downtrodden strata of Muslims in this country by providing better educational facilities for them. The MESAMS established the MES Medical College in the year 2004 with a capacity of admitting 100 students, every year and it founded the MES Nursing College, within the next few months. The Nursing College has a capacity of admitting 50 students, annually.

The courses are offered at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The mission of the college is to educate and train the students associated dental health providers and health educators in Malabar region. The college admits a total of 100 students in the course, every year. The main course that the Dental College offers at the undergraduate level is the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). The Dental College has been recognised and approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI).

According to the rules and regulations for admission in the Dental College of the MES Academy of Medical Sciences (MESAMS), Malappuram, the students are required to fulfill certain criterions, to get admitted. For getting admitted in the BDS Course in the institute, the candidates are required to be an Indian National. They are required to have passed the 10+2 examination after a period of 12 years of study, conducted by Boards/ Councils. The candidates, who have passed the Intermediate examination established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognised as equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Association of Indian Universities, are also considered eligible. The students are required to pass the examinations with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidates are required to have passed subjects of English, Physics Chemistry and Biology individually also.

The candidates desirous to get admission in BDS course in the Dental College of the MES Academy of Medical Sciences (MESAMS), Malappuram are also required to have obtained at least 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, taken together at the qualifying examination. However, the minimum required percentage of marks comes down to 40% for the candidates, belonging to the SC/ST categories. The candidates are also required to have obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the competitive entrance examination, where such examinations are held for selection. Apart from that, the candidates are required to be aged at least 17 years, at the time of admission or will be completing the age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
