Indian Squash players have been performing well in the international tournaments for a long period. They have won many trophies in the prestigious tournaments and a number of them are ranked in the top 50 in the world.
Some of the most notable and successful Indian Squash players include K.S. Jain, Sourav Ghoshal, Bhuvaneshwari Kumari, Dipika Pallikal and Ritwik Bhattacharya. K.S. Jain was the first squash player to be given the Arjuna Award (in 1962) and Bhuvaneshwari Kumari, a noted female squash player, won both the Padma Shri and the Arjuna Award for her achievements in squash.
Five time National Squash Championship winner Ritwik Bhattacharya is a contemporary squash professional who was ranked 57th in the world in the year 2005 and has made a mark in several international tournaments. Saurav Ghoshal, another contemporary squash exponent, was ranked 23rd as of 2011, and is rising star in the world of Indian squash.
Cyrus Poncha
Cyrus Poncha is an Indian squash coach. He was born in the year 1976 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is currently based out of Chennai, and coaches at the ICL-TNSRA Academy. Cyrus Poncha won the Dronacharya Award from the Government of India in 2005. He was adjudged Asian Squash Federation Junior Coach of the Year 2003-2004.
Ritwik Bhattacharya
Ritwik Bhattacharya is the flag bearer of Indian Squash on Professional Squash Association tour rock. He was the first of the accomplished junior players to spurn an education in the United States to follow his dreams in squash. With juniors including Saurav Ghosal, Supreet Singh, Sid Suchde, Gaurav Nandarjog, Harinder Pal Sandhu following his lead in recent years, Ritwik Bhattacharya has brought some momentum in the Indian squash scene.
Saurav Ghosal
Saurav Ghosal was born on 10th August 1986, in Kolkata, West Bengal. He is a professional squash player from India and reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 15 in December 2013. He completed his schooling at Lakshmipat Singhania Academy in Kolkata.
Joshna Chinappa
Joshna Chinappa was born on 15th September in the year 1986. She is hailing from Kodagu District and is a squash player in India. Joshna Chinappa reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in July 2016. Joshna Chinappa was the first Indian to win the British Squash Championship title in 2003 in under 19 category and was also the youngest Indian women`s national champion. Joshna Chinappa is the first beneficiary of Mittal Champions Trust. A trainee of the Indian Squash Academy (erstwhile ICL academy), Chennai, Joshna Chinappa was ranked 19th in the world in March 2014.
Dipika Pallikal Karthik
Dipika Pallikal Karthik was born on 21st September in the year 1991. She is an Indian squash player. She is the first Indian to break into the top 10 in the PSA Women`s rankings.
Siddharth Suchde
Siddharth Suchde was born on 20th January in the year 1985, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is a professional squash player from India. He grew up in India, Scotland and Switzerland. He studied in Cathedral School in Bombay and completed his high school education from Merchiston School in Edinburgh, Scotland. Later, he attended Harvard University from 2003-2007 as an undergraduate, where he received a degree in Economics.
