Government Homoeopathic Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, KeralaThe Government Homoeopathic Medical College (GHMC), Thiruvananthapuram is one of the leading medical institutions in Kerala and also counted among the premier ones in India. The college started its journey in 1983 and it is currently affiliated to the University of Kerala and approved by the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH), under the Department of AYUSH of Government of India. The College is owned and being run and managed by the State Government of Kerala.

The Government Homoeopathic Medical College (GHMC), Thiruvananthapuram mainly offers the Five and a half years BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery) degree course. The college started offering the course from the very first year of its inception and it presently admits 50 students in the course, every year. The college started offering three year BHMS graded degree course from 1991. The college also offers the three year Post Graduate course MD (Hom) in two subjects like Homoeopathic Philosophy and Materia Medica. The postgraduate courses were stated in the college in 1995. Another postgraduate course in Repertory was started to be offered from 1996 and the subjects like Practice of Medicine and Homoeopathic Pharmacy, were added to the college`s postgraduate curriculum from 2004. The college offers the one year Nurse cum Pharmacist course, as well.

The Government Homoeopathic Medical College (GHMC), Thiruvananthapuram admits 6 students in each speciality through the Homoeopathy post graduate entrance test, conducted by the State Government of Kerala. The students are also selected through the common medical entrance test conducted by the Government of Kerala. The college teaches the subjects like Anatomy, Physiology and Bio Chemistry, Pharmacy, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Pathology and Microbiology, Social & Preventive Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Practice of Medicine, Case Taking and Repertorisation, Organon of Medicine and Materia Medica, under its BHMS course.

The postgraduate courses offered by the Government Homoeopathic Medical College (GHMC), Thiruvananthapuram include MD (Hom) in Materia Medica, Homoeopathic Philosophy, Repertory, Practice of Medicine and Pharmacy. All the courses are affiliated to the University of Calicut, subjected to the satisfaction of the Homoeopathy (Post graduate degree course) MD (Hom) regulations, 1989, Government of India. The college follows the syllabus designed by the university according to the direction of the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH).

According to the rules and regulations for admission in the Government Homoeopathic Medical College (GHMC), Thiruvananthapuram, the students are required to have passed the BHMS (Direct or Graded) degree to get admitted in the postgraduate courses. The students, who have passed any equivalent examination declared thereto by the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH), are also considered eligible for admission. The candidates, who have completed the prescribed internship on or before the last date for submission for application alone, are considered eligible for admission, as well. However, the college does not consider the candidates, who have passed the final year examination with more that three chances. The candidates are also required to submit due papers that prove the recognition of the college and course by the University as well as Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH), to get admitted in the under graduate level.
