The Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental Science (RGCDS) is considered to be one of the most popular and prominent dental colleges in the state of Karnataka and also in India. The Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental Science (RGCDS), Bangaluru mainly offers the undergraduate course of Bachelors of Dental Science (BDS) to the students of Karnataka. The course is designed with a view to provide the students as much of knowledge about the modern techniques and methods of dental science, as possible. The college follows some rules and regulations for admitting the students in its BDS course. For getting admitted in the 1st BDS course provides by the college, the students are required to have passed the two years PUC Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board of the State of Karnataka with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as Optional subjects. The students, who have passed an equivalent examination where he/she has studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology as Optional subjects in the XII Standard or class or has done Graduation from any University established by Law in India with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology as optional subjects, are also eligible for admission. However, such students should have also passed the additional Physics Examination of any university or Institution recognised by the State Government provided further the marks obtained in the additional physics shall not be taken into account for assessing the merit of the candidate.
The students desirous of getting admitted in the Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental Science (RGCDS), Bangaluru are required to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in optional subjects of the qualifying examination. For the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, the minimum required marks, comes down to 40% on the aggregate. The State Government selects the eligible candidates through a common entrance test every year. The College selects 15% of the Seats from N.R.I. Candidates and if seats fall vacant, those seats shall be filled up with other students by the College. Apart from the above mentioned educational qualification, the candidates are also required to be aged at least 17 years or above on or before 31st December of the year of admission. The college does not consider the applications, made by the candidates aged above 35 years.
Apart from offering the BDS course, the Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental Science (RGCDS), Bangaluru also conducts research programmes, with a motto of "How to find & how to solve". The institute supplies materials for research work according to the taste of each individual student with a view to shape the minds of its students for progressive thoughts. The institute also provides separate hostel facilities for both the male and female students. The college also makes its students go through internship training in the major hospitals and dental clinics of Bangaluru.
