Kamlesh Mehta is one of the most acknowledged table tennis players of India. This tennis master was born on 1st May 1960. Kamlesh started playing the game at an early phase of his life. This player had to conk his career for a couple of years due to a liver ailment.
Kamlesh Mehta, the Indian Tennis player, won the senior national title eight times. Mehta is the highest ranked Indian player in Asian, Commonwealth and the World rankings till date as received by the record. He was the outstandingly superior to his contemporaries. Being a dominator at the national scene, he played in the final of the National Championships on eleven occasions between 1981 and 1994. He became the winner of the title eight times. Besides playing on national level, Mehta led spearheaded the Indian challenge in various international tournaments. He has earned the fame of being the highest ranked Indian player in Asian, Commonwealth and the World rankings.
Kamlesh Mehta became the winner of the National championship eight times. Later he holds the chair of the coach of the national team last year. According to him a lot of work needed to be done in India in order to catch up with other countries. He, in his tenure as a coach tried to work on the diet and fitness level of the players by the implementation of a bit of yoga and advice from sport science specialists from NIS. As a coach, he as well as the other top Commonwealth sides felt that India needs a boost to move forward and improve the way of the game for betterment.
Table Tennis Federation of India has raised Kamlesh Mehta, the former national champion to the chair of the national men's team coach.
