The college has earned considerable recognition for its excellent academic record and has been playing a role in the development of the health scenario in Karnataka. The college has been working on the basis of some certain aims and objectives. Its aim is to offer quality medical education to the students of the state and also provide quality treatment to the people of Karnataka.

The College of Dental Sciences (CODS), Bangalore offers a large number of courses in different fields of dental science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It admits 100 students for its undergraduate course, named Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and the students are admitted through different ways. The students applying for the Merit seats and Merit Payment seats are required to appear in a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Government of Karnataka, India.

The admission procedure for the postgraduate course named Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) is a bit different. The candidates, who are interested in getting admitted to the MDS Course, are required to pass the BDS course from a dental college recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The students should also have completed one year of internship as on 31st August of that particular year. The international students, who are interested in getting admitted in MDS course in the College of Dental Sciences (CODS), Bangalore, should get their undergraduate degree and the University, recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The CODS, Bangalore offers the MDS course in the branches like Periodontics, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics including Crown and Bridge, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Radiology, and Oral Pathology and Microbiology.
