Acharya Shri Chander Institute of Nursing Education, Jammu, Jammu and KashmirThe Acharya Shri Chander Institute of Nursing Education (ASCINE), Jammu is a premier medical institution in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The institution was established by the Shri Chander Chinar Bada Akhara Udasin Society (Regd.) with the permission of State Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The college is located at Sidhra and is affiliated to the Punjab Nurses Registration Council and also recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC), Delhi. There is a 507-bedded Hospital for Clinical and other training purposes of the Nursing Institute. The hospital also provides infrastructure in non-clinical and para-clinical departments and the college utilises them for training of Nurses the students and staff. The college also provides separate accommodation for the male and female students and the staff.

The Acharya Shri Chander Institute of Nursing Education (ASCINE), Jammu has been working on achieving some certain aims and objectives. The principal objective of the college is to demonstrate awareness of meducal science and skills required in the Nursing process in the provision of Health Care and Nursing of Patients. The institute is dedicated to make its students competent to assess the Nursing needs of individuals, Families and Communities throughout life, from birth to death and to take appropriate action for helping people retained and sustaining their best possible level of Health in all its aspects. The students should be capable of planning appropriate action through competent safe Nursing Care and working with other members of the Health Team and community in promotion of Health, prevention of Illness restoration of Health and rehabilitation. Another aim of the institute is to make its students capable of evaluating effectiveness of Nursing and Health Care activities and also applying relevant knowledge from the humanities biological and behavioural sciences in caring out Health Care Nursing activities and functions.

Apart from the above mentioned objectives, the Acharya Shri Chander Institute of Nursing Education (ASCINE), Jammu is also working on making its students capable of showing sensitivity and skill in Human relationships and communication in her daily work. The students are prepared for demonstrating skill in the use of problem solving methods in nursing practice and gaining knowledge of Health resources in the community and the country. They are also ready to demonstrate leadership`s skill in working with Health Team, community and others in the provision of Health Care and demonstrate awareness of the necessity of belonging to professional organizations. The faculty of the institute is also working hard to make the students be able to demonstrate understanding of and commitment to professional behavior, demonstrate ability in self-awareness, self-elevation in personal and professional life and promote health precautions against illness, restoration of health and rehabilitation.

The Acharya Shri Chander Institute of Nursing Education (ASCINE), Jammu admits a large number of students in different courses, every year. The minimum educational qualification for the students is that they must have passed Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary Part II (class 12th) Examination of 10+2 stream or equivalent examinations from a recognized statutory Board /University. The students, who have passed the 12th class examinations with science subjects and have secure 45% marks or above, are given preference. The applicants are required to be aged at least 17 years and should not be above 35 years at the time of admission. After completing the courses in the institute, the students actively participate in various programmes like Camps, Pulse Polio Immunization, and Family Welfare Programme. The programmes are organised in collaboration with other prominent agencies. Apart from that, they also get involved in the programmes like the National HIV Aids Programme and other co-curricular activities like annual sport meet, W.H.O, Nurses Day etc.
