Academy of Medical Education Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore, KarnatakaThe Academy of Medical Education Dental College and Hospital (AMEDCH) is a popular medical institution located in Bangalore, Karnataka. The college came into existence in 1991 and with a view to meet the requirements of dental health care to the state of Karnataka and neighbouring states. The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI), since 1996. The college has been working on providing efficient care to suffering humanity and also on imparting excellent modern training to the students in the field of dental sciences.

The Academy of Medical Education Dental College and Hospital (AMEDCH), Bangalore offers several courses in different fields of medical science at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The college first started with the undergraduate BDS course and then it started offering the PG courses from 2003-04. It offers PG Course M.D.S. in Dentistry with Two Specialties namely Orthodontics & Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. The college got the permission from DCI to add two more specialties in out PG Centre Namely Prosthodontics & Periodontics, in 2004-05.

There are some certain rules and regulations and criterion for the students to get admitted in the Academy of Medical Education Dental College and Hospital (AMEDCH), Bangalore. To get admitted in BDS Course, the students have to be aged at least 17 years at the time of admission or should be completing 17 years before 31st December of the year of admission. The students are required to pass two years Pre - University Examination of Pre - University Board of Karnataka with English and Physics Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects, to get admitted in the BDS course. The candidates are also required to obtain 50% marks in English and a 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

On the other hand, the students who want to get admitted in MDS course in the Academy of Medical Education Dental College and Hospital (AMEDCH), Bangalore, need to have a degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery). The students should get the degree from any college or University recognized by Dental Council of India or they should have a qualification recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, (RGUHS) and the Dental Council of India. For the candidates, who do not have a recognized Dental qualification for the above purpose, the college demands the prior approval of his/ her qualifications by the Dental Council of India before admission to the MDS Course.

The institute has a large number of departments that are aimed at imparting medical education to its students. The major departments of the college include the department of Prosthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Pedodontics, Community Dentistry, Anatomy, Biochemistry, General Pathology, Microbiology, General Surgery and the department of General Medicine. The college has been working according to the principles of professional management right from its inception. As a result, thus students qualifying from this institute are also confidently and successfully facing the challenge of modern technology and complicated cases of dentistry in India and abroad.
