Anuj Gurwara is an award-winning radio jockey, actor, show host, and singer. Anuj Gurwara is popularly known as RJ "Recharge" Anuj, owing to the popularity of his evening drivetime show, Recharge. Belonging to Hyderabad, Anuj Gurwara was born on June 9, 1981into a family of educators. His father, Yogendra K Gurwara, and mother, Jyoti Gurwara, are teachers in the Sherwood Public School. Anuj Gurwara has one elder brother, Amol Gurwara. Anuj Gurwara his schooling in Sherwood and later completed his graduation in Psychology and Advertising from Nizam College, Hyderabad. He was keenly interested in aesthetics from his childhood and also took active participation of Arts and Music in school and college.

Anuj Gurwara displayed tremendous potential and started his career in entertainment as a copywriter. After passing out college in 2001, he joined a BPO but that did not satisfy him. After quitting within a few months, Anuj Gurwara joined as a copywriter in a couple of advertising agencies. During that period, he came in contact with Dramatic Circle Hyderabad, one of the most prominent theatre groups of Anuj Gurwara. After working with such an eminent theatre group, Anuj Gurwara realised that entertainment was what he wanted to do. He decided to go to Mumbai in 2002 to make his dream his proffession.

Anuj Gurwara got his first call in 2003 from Nagesh Kukunoor for Hyderabad Blues 2: Rearranged Marriage, after numerous auditions at various production houses. Next, Sekhar Kammula called him for an audition. This National Film Award winner possessed a great confidence in Anuj Gurwara. He decided to cast Anuj Gurwara as the 2nd lead for his film Anand, which released in 2004. Anand proved to be a massive hit and Anuj Gurwara received good reviews for his part.

In 2005, Anuj Gurwara auditioned for All India Radio that was a turning point in his professional life. He was selected and started to host music-based shows on Yuvavani. After All India Radio, Anuj Gurwara worked for Radio Biryani, which was a private radio program setup that aired on the AIR frequency. During that time, Anuj Gurwara was awarded Best RJ (Hindi) for his show, Naach Meri Jaan. Radio City 91.1 had been a big break for Anuj Gurwara in 2006. He worked in this radio station right from its foundation in Hyderabad. This was the first private FM station in the city.

Anuj Gurwara was given the responsibility to host an evening drive time show, Recharge, six days a week, from 8pm to 11pm. He played popular Hindi music and presented the entire package of the show with high energy, wit, and humor. A survey said that this show became the most popular show in Hyderabad and the listeners were gripped to the radio throughout the three hours. The show struck a chord with the evening listenership that would drive back from work, and as the popular RJ Anuj Gurwara would say, "recharge" their batteries on their way back home. Anuj Gurwara was the most lovable name for all age group audience as they enjoyed the show immensely. Owing to his popularity with listeners, Anuj Gurwara was awarded "No.1 RJ across All-India Radio City" for the year 2006-07.

Anuj Gurwara soon started to host the morning show, The Radio City Breakfast Show, from 7am to 11am. In this show, along with Shraddha, Anuj Gurwara gave a fun and energetic start to the day. The chirpy, positive and friendly mockery between them had Hyderabad tuned in every morning. In February 2008, Anuj Gurwara was awarded "India`s Best Radio Host for 2007-08" in a nationwide search. However, he quit Radio City in July 2008, after the station changed its language preference to a more regional collection.

Other than being a successful radio jockey, Anuj Gurwara has been an active theatre actor in Hyderabad, as part of various theatre productions and showcased his talent as an actor. Here too he received positive reviews. Anuj Gurwara also diversified himself as a show anchor and hosted several formal events to large parties and concerts. In February 2006, Anuj Gurwara also worked as a VJ with SS Music. He won the VJ Factor 2, a hunt for VJs in South India. Amongst 5000 people who participated in the competion, Anuj Gurwara was one of the four winners. Presently Anuj Gurwara works as a freelance voice over artiste and scriptwriter, for various ad films, radio spots, documentaries and films.
