The Gujarat and Kerala teams became the toppers in the Plate Group A of Ranji Trophy, 2007-08.

The Plate Group A of the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 saw the participation of 6 teams that were coming from different parts of India. The teams were mainly representing different Indian states in the most prestigious domestic cricket tournament of India and they included the likes of Gujarat, Assam, Tripura, Services, Vidarbha and Kerala. The teams were put into the Plate Group A, as they performed poorly in the previous edition of the tournament. The teams competed with each other in the group matches for becoming one of the top two teams in the group. The teams also tried their best to secure a berth in the knock out level of the Plate Group; however, only the teams like Gujarat and Kerala eventually did so from the Plate Group A. The teams earned the highest points from the group matches to get the chance and the vied for one of the top two spots in the Plate Group. They did so for being promoted to the Elite Group in the next year`s edition.

The Plate Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 started with the match between the teams of Gujarat and Assam and the two teams played the match at Ahmedabad from 03-06 November, 2007. The Gujarat team got a good start in the tournament by winning the match with a margin of 248 runs and they also earned 5 points from the match. The Assam team failed to earn any points from the match. The teams of Tripura and Services played against each other bin the second match of the group and the match was held at Agartala from 03-06 November, 2007. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Tripura and Services teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the match. The next match of the group involved the teams like Vidarbha and Kerala and the match took place at Nagpur from 03-06 November, 2007. The Kerala team clinched a victory of 150 runs in the match to earn 5 points and the Vidarbha team remained pointless in the match.

The Assam and Vidarbha teams played against each other in the fourth of the Plate Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the match was held at Guwahati from 15-18 November, 2007. The match officials awarded both the Assam and Vidarbha teams 1 point, each for the drawn match. The Gujarat team played against the Tripura team in the next match of the group and the match took place at Ahmedabad from 15-18 November, 2007. The Gujarat team won this match also by a good margin of an innings and 72 runs and the team also earned 6 points from the match. The Tripura team could not earn any points from the match. Then, the teams of Kerala and Services met with each other in the next match of the group and the match was held at Palakkad from 15-18 November, 2007. The Kerala team earned 3 points from the drawn match and the Services team also earned 1 point.

The seventh of the Plate Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 was played between the teams of Assam and Kerala and the two teams played the match at Silchar from 23-26 November, 2007. The Assam team earned 5 points from the match by clinching a victory of 32 runs and the Kerala team failed to earn any points. The teams of Services and Gujarat were involved in the next match of the group and the match was held at Delhi from 23-26 November, 2007. The winner of the match was the Gujarat team with a margin of an innings and 193 runs and the team also earned 6 points from the match. However, the Services team could not earn even a single point from the match. The next match of the group saw the teams of Vidarbha and Tripura playing against each other at Nagpur from 23-26 November, 2007. The match was won by the Vidarbha team with a narrow margin of 13 runs and the team also earned 5 points from the match. The Tripura team failed to earn any points from the match.

The match between the teams of Assam and Services was the tenth of the Plate Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the match was held at Guwahati from 01-04 December, 2007. The Assam team won the match by a margin of 6 wickets to earn 5 points and the Services team remained pointless in the match. Then, the Gujarat team played against the Vidarbha team in the next match of the group and the match took place at Valsad from 01-04 December, 2007. The Gujarat team became the winner of the match by a margin of 50 runs and the team earned 5 points from the match. The Vidarbha team could not earn any points from the match. The Tripura and Kerala teams then met with each other in the next match of the Plate Group A and the match was held at Agartala from 01-04 December, 2007. The winner of the match was the Tripura team with a margin of 4 wickets and the team also earned 5 points from the match. However, the Kerala team could not earn even a single point from the match.

In the next match of the Plate Group A, the teams of Assam and Tripura played against each other at Guwahati from 09-12 December, 2007. The drawn match saw the Tripura and Assam teams earning 3 and 1 points, respectively from it. The teams of Gujarat and Kerala were involved in the next match of the group and the match was held at Surat from 09-12 December, 2007. The Kerala team clinched a huge victory of 9 wickets in the match for earning 5 points and the Gujarat team failed to earn any points from the match. The last of the Plate Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 involved the teams like Vidarbha and Services and the two teams played the match at Nagpur from 09-12 December, 2007. The match was won by the Vidarbha team with a good margin of 309 runs and the team also earned 5 points from the match. However, the Services team failed to earn any points from the match.
