All the 8 teams that participated in the Elite Group A of Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 were the top performers of the previous edition of the tournament. The teams were selected by the BCCI to play in the Elite Group A and they were not representing any specific region of India. The teams were mainly representing different Indian states in the most popular and prestigious domestic cricket tournament of India. The participating teams included the likes of Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra, Mumbai, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi and Rajasthan. All the teams played in the group matches with the same view of becoming one of the top two teams in the group and they also tried their best to get into the knock out level of the Elite Group. The teams like Delhi and Saurashtra eventually got into the knock out level from the Elite Group A by earning the highest points from the group matches.

The match between the teams of Himachal Pradesh and Saurashtra was the first of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the two teams played the match at Dharmasala from 03-06 November, 2007. The match remained drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Saurashtra and Himachal Pradesh teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the match. The Mumbai and Karnataka teams appeared in the second match of the group and the match was held at Mumbai from 03-06 November, 2007. The drawn match saw the Mumbai team earning 3 points and the Karnataka team earning 1 point from it. The Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra teams were involved in the next match of the group and the match took place at Chennai from 03-06 November, 2007. None of the teams could earn even a single point from the match, as it remained drawn during the specified period of time. The next match of the group was played between the teams of Delhi and Rajasthan and the match was held at Delhi from 04-07 November, 2007. The Delhi team earned 5 points from the match by clinching a victory of 172 runs and the Rajasthan team failed to earn any points from the match.

The Delhi team appeared in the fifth of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 also and this time, it played against the Saurashtra team at Delhi from 15-18 November, 2007. The Delhi and Saurashtra teams earned 3 and 1 points, respectively from the match, as it remained drawn during the stipulated duration. The Karnataka team played against the Himachal Pradesh team in the next match of the group and the match took place at Bangalore from 15-18 November, 2007. Clinching a victory of an innings and 126 runs, the Karnataka team earned 6 points from the match and the Himachal Pradesh team remained pointless in the match. The next match of the group involved the teams like Rajasthan and Maharashtra and the two teams played the match at Jaipur from 15-18 November, 2007. The winner of the match was the Maharashtra team with a margin of 8 wickets and the team also earned 5 points from the match. However, the Rajasthan team could not earn even a single point from the match. The match between the teams of Tamil Nadu and Mumbai was also held during the same timing from 15-18 November, 2007 and the match took place at Chennai. The match was won by the Mumbai team with a good margin of 8 wickets and the team also earned 5 points from it. The Tamil Nadu team remained pointless in the match.

The ninth of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 was played between the teams of Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra and the match was held at Dharmasala from 23-25 November, 2007. The Maharashtra team played well in the match and clinched a huge victory of 10 wickets to earn 6 points. The Himachal Pradesh team failed to earn any points from the match. Then, the Mumbai team played against the Delhi team in the nest match of the group and the match took place at Mumbai from 23-26 November, 2007. The match officials awarded the Delhi and Mumbai teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the drawn match. The next match of the group saw the teams of Rajasthan and Saurashtra playing against each other at Jaipur from 23-26 November, 2007. The match was won by the Saurashtra team with a margin of 200 runs and the team also earned 5 points from the match. However, the Rajasthan team remained pointless in the match. The match between the teams of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka was the next in the Elite Group A and the two teams played the match at Chennai from 23-26 November, 2007. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the match.

The match between the teams of Himachal Pradesh and Delhi was the next match in the Elite Group A and the two teams played the match at Dharmasala from 01-04 December, 2007. The drawn match saw the Himachal Pradesh and Delhi teams earning 3 and 1 points, respectively from it. The teams of Karnataka and Rajasthan appeared in the 14th of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the match was held at Mysore from 01-04 December, 2007. The Rajasthan and Karnataka teams earned 3 and 1 points, respectively from the drawn match. The Mumbai team played against the Maharashtra team in the next match of the group and the match took place at Mumbai from 01-04 December, 2007. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Maharashtra and Mumbai teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the match. The match between the teams of Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra was also held during the same timing from 01-04 December, 2007 and the match was held at Chennai. The Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra teams earned 3 and 1 points, respectively from the drawn match.

The Saurashtra team appeared in the 17th of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 also and this time, it played against the Karnataka team at Mysore from 09-12 December, 2007. The Saurashtra team clinched a hardly earned victory of only 3 runs in the match for earning 5 points and the Karnataka team remained pointless in the match. The next match of the group saw the teams of Maharashtra and Delhi playing against each other at Nagothane from 09-12 December, 2007. The winner of the match was the Delhi team with a margin of 7 wickets and the team also earned 5 points from the match. The Maharashtra team failed to earn any points from the match. The match between the teams of Rajasthan and Mumbai was the next match in the Elite Group A and the match took place at Jhalwar from 09-12 December, 2007. The match saw a close contest between the two teams and the Mumbai team eventually clinched a narrow victory of only 2 runs in the match for earning 5 points. However, the Rajasthan team could not earn even a single point from the match. The Tami Nadu and Himachal Pradesh teams appeared in the next match of the group and the match was held at Chennai from 09-12 December, 2007. The Tamil Nadu team earned 5 points from the match by clinching a victory of 180 runs and the Himachal Pradesh team remained pointless in the match.

The Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai teams were involved in the 21st of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the two teams played the match at Dharmasala from 17-20 December, 2007. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials awarded the Mumbai and Himachal Pradesh teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the match. The next match of the group saw the teams of Karnataka and Delhi playing against each other at Bangalore from 17-20 December, 2007. Both the Karnataka and Delhi teams earned 1 point, each from the drawn match. The Maharashtra team played against the Saurashtra team in the next match of the Elite Group A and the match was held at Nagothane from 17-20 December, 2007. The Saurashtra team earned 5 points from the match by clinching a victory of 8 wickets and the Maharashtra team remained pointless in the match. The match between the teams of Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan was also held during the same timing from 17-20 December, 2007 and the two teams played the match at Chennai. The Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan teams earned 1 point, each from the drawn match.

The match between the teams of Maharashtra and Karnataka was the 25th of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 and the match took place at Ratnagiri from 25-28 December, 2007. Clinching a victory of an innings and 129 runs, the Karnataka team earned 6 points from the match and the Maharashtra team failed to earn any points from the match. The next match of the group involved the teams like Mumbai and Saurashtra and the match was held at Mumbai from 25-28 December, 2007. The match remained drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Saurashtra and Mumbai teams 3 and 1 points, respectively for the match. The Rajasthan team played against the Himachal Pradesh team in the next match of the group and the match took place at Dharmasala from 25-28 December, 2007. The Rajasthan team clinched a huge victory of 9 wickets in the match for earning 5 points and the Himachal Pradesh team remained pointless in the match. The last of the Elite Group A matches in the Ranji Trophy, 2007-08 was played between the teams of Tamil Nadu and Delhi and the two teams played the match at Chennai from 25-28 December, 2007. The Delhi team won the match by a margin of 8 wickets to earn 5 points. However, the Tamil Nadu team could not earn even a single point from the match.
