Ranji Trophy - 1975-76
All the teams in India once again failed to stop the Bombay team from becoming the champion of the tournament.

There were a number of 24 teams played against each other in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 and the BCCI did select the teams from all the parts of India. There were both the State teams and the Services teams participating in the tournament and the BCCI divided the teams into a number of five different zones. The teams that took part in the tournament included the likes of Andhra, Assam, Baroda, Bengal, Bihar, Bombay, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Hyderabad, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Punjab, Railways, Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Services, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and the Vidarbha. The teams first played against each other in their respective zones and then proceeded towards the knock out level of the tournament for competing with the top teams of the other zone, for the championship title.

Ranji Trophy 1975-76, Central Zone League Matches: The Central Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 saw a change in its team list, as a number of 5 teams played under this zone in the tournament. The new team in the zone was the Railways team that shifted from the North Zone to the Central Zone. The Railways team played against all the other regular teams of the Central Zone like Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. All the teams tried their best to become one of the toppers in the zone and also to get a chance in the knock out level of the tournament. However, the teams like Rajasthan and Railways eventually became successful to do so from the Central Zone.

Ranji Trophy 1975-76, East Zone League Matches: The East Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 saw all the regular four teams of the zone participating and playing against each other and the teams included the likes of Bengal, Assam, Orissa and Bihar. All the teams were representing the states located in the Eastern region of India and the teams fought with each other very hard for securing a birth in the knock out level of the tournament. According to the rules and regulations of the tournament, the teams could do so only by becoming one of the top two teams in the East Zone. The Bengal and Bihar teams did just that and became successful to get into the knock out level from the East Zone.

Ranji Trophy 1975-76, North Zone League Matches: The number of participating teams under the North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 was decreased to 5 from that of 6 in the previous edition, as the Railways team was shifted to Central Zone in this edition. The teams that took part under the North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 included the likes of Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Services and Jammu & Kashmir. The teams played against each other in the league matches first for becoming one of the top two teams in the zone and then the two toppers entered into the knock out level of the tournament. The teams competed with the top teams of the other zones in the knock out level, for the championship title. The Delhi and Haryana teams eventually became successful to get into the knock out level of the tournament from this zone.

Ranji Trophy 1975-76, South Zone League Matches: The South Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 saw the participation of 5 teams, all the regular ones that had been playing in the competition for the previous few editions. All the teams were coming from the Southern region of India and the teams included the likes of Kerala, Hyderabad, Andhra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The teams fought hard with each other in the league matches and their main aim was to become one of the top two teams in the zone and also to secure a birth in the knock out level of the tournament. However, it was the teams like Karnataka and Hyderabad that eventually became successful to get into the knock out level from the South Zone.

Ranji Trophy 1975-76, West Zone League Matches: All the 5 regular teams that had been playing in the tournament for the previous several editions, took part under the West Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76, as well. The teams were representing the Western regions of India in the tournament and they included the likes of Bombay, Baroda, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Saurashtra. Though all the teams tried very hard to become the topper in the zone and secure a birth in the knock out level of the tournament, only the teams like Bombay and Maharashtra could eventually do so from the West Zone.

Ranji Trophy 1975-76, Knock out Matches: The knock out level of the Ranji Trophy, 1975-76 saw the top two teams from all the zones playing and competing against each other for the coveted championship title. The teams included the likes of Bombay, Bengal, Bihar, Hyderabad, Railways, Rajasthan, Delhi, Karnataka, Haryana and Maharashtra and they played against each other in the Pre-Quarter-Finals, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final of the tournament. Although all of the teams left no stones unturned in their endeavour of becoming the champion of the tournament, it was the Bombay team once again that became successful to win the trophy.
