The knock out matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 was played between the top two teams from all the five zones in the tournament. The teams were selected depending upon their performances in the league matches of their respective zones. The teams that got the promotion to compete against each other in the knock out matches included the likes of Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Bengal, Bombay, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Hyderabad. The teams took part in the Pre-Quarter-Finals, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final of the tournament and tried very hard for winning the title of the championship.

The knock out matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 started with the first Pre-Quarter-Final match between the teams of Madhya Pradesh and Haryana at Indore from 14-16 February, 1975. Though the match was drawn during the stipulated duration, the match officials decided to allow the Haryana team to proceed towards the Quarter-Finals of the tournament. The second Pre-Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 involved the teams like Gujarat and Delhi and the teams played the match at Delhi from 14-16 February, 1975. The Delhi team played very well in the match and clinched a victory of 6 wickets for entering into the Quarter-Final stage of the tournament.

The first Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 was played between the teams of Bengal and Karnataka at Calcutta from 28 February-03 March, 1975. The drawn match saw the Karnataka team getting the permission for competing in the Semi-Final stage of the tournament. The teams of Rajasthan and Delhi played against each other in the second Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 and the match was held at Jaipur from 28 February-03 March, 1975. Both the teams tried their best to win the match; however, the Delhi team became successful to clinch a narrow win of 3 wickets in the match and also reached the Semi-Finals of the tournament. The third Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 saw a clash between the teams of Bombay and Bihar at Bombay during the same timing from 28 February-03 March, 1975. The Bombay team was the winner of the match with a huge margin of an innings and 28 runs. There was a battle between the teams of Hyderabad and Haryana in the fourth Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 and the match took place at Hyderabad from 8 February-03 March, 1975. The Hyderabad team played very well in the match and beat the Haryana team by 10 wickets for getting a pass to the Semi-Final stage of the tournament.

There was a huge clash between the teams of Delhi and Karnataka in the first Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 and the match was organised at Delhi from 14-17 March, 1975. Though the Delhi team tried hard and played well in the match, the Karnataka team eventually got a win of 7 wickets in the match and reached the Final of the tournament, once again. The second Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 was played between the teams of Bombay and Hyderabad at Hyderabad from 14-17 March 1975. The match remained drawn during the specified period of time and the match officials allowed the Bombay team to enter into the Final of the tournament. Thus, the Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 saw the same line-up of Bombay VS Karnataka, like the previous year and both the teams had the same aim of winning the trophy. The Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1974-75 was played at Bombay from 29 March-02 April, 1975 and the Bombay team became successful to take a very sweet revenge of its defeat to the Karnataka team in the Final of the previous edition. The Bombay team won the match with a margin of 7 wickets and regained the champions` title of the Ranji Trophy.
