In the knock out matches of the Ranji Trophy, 1969-70, there was a participation of all the best teams from the five zones of the tournament. After becoming the toppers in their respective zones, the teams clashed with each other in the knock out level for becoming the best among all and for winning the title of the tournament. However, none of the teams could dethrone the Bombay team in this edition also and the Bombay team eventually became the winner of the championship, yet again.
The Quarter-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1969-70 was played between the teams of Rajasthan and Railways and the match was played at Jaipur from 13-16 March, 1970. The match saw a very close contest between the two teams and it was the ability of the Rajasthan cricketers to keep their heads cool in the crucial moments that helped them clinch a 4 wickets victory in then match. The Rajasthan team was also promoted to the Semi-Final stage of the tournament for this win. The Rajasthan team then played the first Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1969-70 against the Bengal team at Jaipur from 20-21 March, 1970. The Rajasthan team continued its good form of the Quarter-Final match in this match also and clinched a victory of an innings and 34 runs in the match, for reaching the Final of the tournament.
There was a clash between the teams of Bombay and Mysore in the second Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1969-70 and the two teams played the match at Bombay from 20-23 March, 1970. The Bombay team played well in the match and though the match was drawn, Bombay won it on the basis of its first innings lead over the Mysore team in the match. Thus, the Bombay and Rajasthan teams locked their horns together in the Final of the Ranji Trophy, 1969-70 once again and the match took place at Bombay from 02-06 April, 1970. The Bombay team dominated the Rajasthan team throughout the match and eventually clinched a huge victory of an innings and 59 runs to claim the championship title of the Ranji Trophy, 1969-70, for yet another time.
