The North Zone of the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 was comprised of a number of 6 teams, just like the previous editions of the tournament. There was no change in the teams list of the zone and the teams like Delhi, Southern Punjab, Services, Railways, Northern Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir played against each other in the league matches of the zone. All the teams tried their best to get an entry into the knock out level of the tournament, however, only the teams like Railways and Services eventually became successful to do so from the North Zone.

The match between the teams like Jammu & Kashmir and Services was the first of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 and the match was played at Srinagar from 25-26 September, 1966. The winner of the match was the Services team with a margin of an innings and 138 runs and the team earned 9 points from the match, as well. The Southern Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir teams played the second match of the North Zone in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67. The match was held at Srinagar from 30 September-02 October, 1966 and it saw the Southern Punjab team winning by an innings and 110 runs and also earning 9 points from it. In the third match of the zone, there was clash between the teams of Jammu & Kashmir and Railways and the match was held at Srinagar from 05-07 October, 1966. The winner of the match was the Railways tea with a margin of an innings and 60 runs and the team also earned the entire 9 points from the match.

The teams of Northern Punjab and Railways played the fourth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 and the match took place at Jullundur from 11-13 October, 1966. The Railways team won the match with a very good margin of 117 runs and also earned the full 9 points from it. The next match of the zone saw a clash between the teams of Southern Punjab and Railways and the match was held at Chandigarh from 16-18 October, 1966. The Railways team continued its good form in this match also and clinched a victory of 8 wickets for earning 9 points from the match. The Delhi team then played against the Jammu & Kashmir team in the next match of the zone at Jammu from 11-12 November, 1966, where it won by an innings and 28 runs for earning 9 points from it. The match between the teams of Services and Northern Punjab was the seventh of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67. The match that held at Delhi from 17-19 November, 1966, saw the Services team winning by a huge margin of an innings and 30 runs to earn the entire 9 points from it.

The next match of the North Zone was also held during the same timing from 17-19 November, 1966 and the match involved the teams of Delhi and Southern Punjab. The match was held at Delhi and the drawn match saw the Delhi team earning 5 points and Southern Punjab team earning 4 points from it. The Delhi team appeared in the ninth of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 also and this time, it played against the Northern Punjab team at Delhi from 22-24 November, 1966. The match was drawn during the stipulated duration and the match officials awarded the Delhi and Northern Punjab teams 5 and 4 points, respectively for the match. The match between the teams of Southern Punjab and Services was the next match in the North Zone and it was held at Delhi from 22-24 November, 1966. The Services team played wonderfully in the match and clinched a victory of 4 wickets for earning 9 points from it.

The 11th of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 was played between the teams of Delhi and Services at Delhi from 27-29 November, 1966. The drawn match saw the Services and Delhi teams earning 5 and 4 points, respectively from it. The Services team appeared in the next match of the zone also and this time, it played against the Railways team at Delhi from 02-04 December, 1966. This was also a drawn match and the match officials awarded the Railways team 5 points and Services team 4 points for the match. The last of the North Zone league matches in the Ranji Trophy, 1966-67 saw a clash between the teams of Delhi and Railways at Delhi from 07-09 December, 1966. The drawn match saw the Railways team earning 5 valuable points from it.
