The match between Bombay and Maharashtra was held from 31 December, 1943 - 03 January, 1944 at Bombay and the match was won by Bombay team, as it had a lead in the first innings. The next match of the Ranji Trophy, 1943-44 was held between the teams of CP & Berar and Hyderabad at Nagpur from 31 December, 1943 - 02 January, 1944 and Hyderabad won the match by 10 runs. The match between Southern Punjab and Delhi was held at New Delhi from 29-31 January, 1944 where the Southern Punjab won the match with a huge margin of an innings and 201 runs. The first Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1943-44 saw the battle between the teams of Bengal and Madras at Calcutta from 19-23 February, 1944. The match was a competitive one and the Bengal team won the match quite comprehensively by a margin of 134 runs. The last match of the group level of the tournament was held between the teams of Southern Punjab and Northern India at Patiala from 04-06 March, 1944. The Northern India won the match on the basis of first innings lead, after the match was drawn. The second Semi-Final match of the Ranji Trophy, 1943-44 involved the teams like Western India and Northern India at Rajkot from 17-20 March, 1944. It was a nicely competed match between the two teams and the Western Indian team eventually won the match by a margin of 7 wickets and got into the Final. The Final match was held between the teams of Western India and Bengal from 07-10 April, 1944 and the Western India dominated their opponents throughout the match. The Western India team won the match quite comprehensively by a huge margin of an innings and 23 runs and thus became the champion of the Ranji Trophy, 1943-44. |
