Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science, Coimbatore, Tamil NaduDr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science had set out on its journey with the mission of imparting quality education amongst its students. It conceives education as a multi dimensional gamut, along with multiple related activities, yet possessing discrete goals, concerns, functions and activities. So far as offered courses are concerned, students can pursue education both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. M.Phil and Doctoral research programmes and career centric courses of different levels and durations too are offered.

Interestingly, the curriculum is formulated in a manner keeping in mind the fact that course work should be nicely complimented by a series of guest lectures, conferences, workshops, industrial tours and fieldwork. Moreover students are motivated to organise a wide variety of co-curricular activities including those at intercollegiate level. Undergraduate courses include-- 3 Yr B.Com (Regular), 3 Yr. B.Com (Comp. Applications), 3 Yr. B.Com (e-commerce), 3 Yr B.B.M., 3 Yr B.Com, 3 Yr B.Sc, 3 Yr B Sc in Microbiology, 3 Yr B.Sc in Biochemistry, 3 Yr B.Sc in Visual Communication, 3 Yr B.Sc in Computer Science, 3 Yr BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application), 3 Yr BSW (Bachelor of Social work), 3 Yr B.Sc in Information Technology. Postgraduate courses offered are-- 5 Yr M.Sc in Software Systems, 2 Yr MBA Bachelors Degree, 3 Yr MBA (Part-Time), 3 Yr MCA, 2 Yr M.Sc, 2 Yr M.Sc (Biotechnology), 2 Yr M.Sc (Microbiology), 2 Yr M.Sc (Biochemistry), 2 Yr M.Sc. (Bioinformatics), 2 Yr MSW (Social Work), 2 Yr MIB & 1 Yr PGDIB (International Business), 2 Yr MA (Mass Communication), 1 Yr PG. Diploma MM (Marketing Management), 1 Yr PG DMS (Multimedia Systems), 1 Yr PGDBI (Bioinformatics), 1 Yr PGDTM (Tourism Management).

Eligible students can go for research programmes, including M.Phil and PhD, both in part time and full time basis. M.Phil can be done in subjects like-- Bio-tech, Microbiology, Management Science, Computer Science, Commerce, Social Work and Communication. For pursuing specialisations, the curriculum is the same as that of M.Phil, except Computer Science. Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Marketing Management has duration of one year. Also there is a six months Post Graduate Diploma in NGO Management and also Post Graduate Diploma in Woman and Child Development. Add-on Courses of Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science include-- one-year certificate, 2 year Diploma and 3 year Advanced Diploma course. Subjects offered are-- Biosciences Management, Medical Lab Technology, Agro Industrial Biochemistry, Medicinal Plant Cultivation, Commerce Computer Science, International Trade and Foreign Exchange, Advertising & Marketing, e-Commerce, Communication, Public Relations, Graphics & Multimedia and Non-linear Editing.

Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science houses departments like- Commerce, Social Work, Bio Science, Computer Science, Communications, Management, Travel & Tourism Management, Languages, Physical Education and Bioinformatics. A team of efficient and experienced faculty members are associated with every department.

Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science Library is an ideal preserve, which facilitates learning and research activities. The stock of books is quite good and updated issues are incorporated time and again. The staffs also help the readers with their efficient services. To meet the needs of teachers, to keep developments abreast and for research referencing, it also subscribes to more than two hundred and seven journals and periodicals on varied subjects, thus keeping them acquainted about recent happenings on their respective fields of study. At present the collection of books and texts has shown a counting of 24,500, accompanied by quite a few CDs. The Library has undergone computerisation in case of functions like indexing and searching. It is open all the days of the week, including Sundays. Departments like Management, Computer Science and Commerce have their separate libraries as well.

Hostels accommodation too is available for the students of Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science. Nearly 1/3rd of the students reside in hostel. Apart from two separate hostels for male and female students, there is an additional small hostel for postgraduate students. The kitchen serving nutritious and tasty food make the hostellers stay fit and healthy. Common rooms, recreation halls, games room and gymnasium, provide the students ample scope to spend time in relaxation and amusement. With increasing demand for hostels, the college authority also arranges accommodation in other hostels situated nearby or in some other private hostels.

Students can also get variety of snacks and beverages from Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science canteen. The Indian Bank has an extension counter that functions inside the campus on working days. For facilitating sports and games, widespread playgrounds and outdoor and indoor stadia are built. Games like basketball, cricket, tennis, table tennis, chess, carom, football, volleyball and athletics are practiced. The college conducts annual tournaments for the GRD Trophy in games like basketball and volleyball. In fact the college leads the State in women`s volleyball and men`s basketball championships. It also has its own tennis team.

Dr. G.R.Damodaran College of Science`s laboratories are stocked with updated and stylish equipments that rightly meet the requirements of the undergraduate and postgraduate students and research scholars. There is a computer centre with extensive hardware and software modern facilities. For internet access, a 512 KBPS, 1:1 Wireless Leased Line is fixed up within the campus. This links up all the systems in the campus.
