Kolappalur, Tamil NaduKolappalur is a Panchayat town, which is situated in the district of Erode of Tamil Nadu of Indian subcontinent. It is located 54 km towards north from district head quarters Thiruvannamalai and 132 km from state capital Chennai. Tamil is the local language here. Kolappalur is a village where more than 5000 people are living in it. It has a great culture and people from different communities and religions are living together. Agriculture is the primary occupation.

According to the 2001 India census, Kolappalur had a population of 8,717. Males constituted 50% of the population and females 50%. Kolappalur had an average literacy rate of 89%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 92% and female literacy was 86%. The village has many important temples such as "Mariamman Temple", "Panaiamman Temple", "Sankagiri Temple", "Satyamangalam Temple", "Chennimalai Temple" and "Bhavani Sangameshwarar Temple". The unique feature of Kolappalur is that there is also a Jain Temple. A Christian church named "Our Lady of Victories" is present which has recently celebrated its 100 years. A small mosque is also there.

Kaanum Pongal, Atchaya Thiruthiyai (Dhana Pooja), Ugadi and Deepavali are the festivals that are celebrated in this village with huge splendour.

Kolappalur Panchayat has State Board Co-Ed Tamil Medium Secondary School called St. Marry`s High School. Another Primary School has been managed by same management. One Primary school up to 5th Standard is run by the State Government.

How to Reach Kolappalur
Kolappalur is well connected by rails, airports and also by roads. Coimbatore Airport, Ingur Railway Station and Erode Junction Railway Station lie in vicinity. There is no railway station near to Kolappalur in less than 10 km. How ever Katpadi Junction Railway Station is major railway station 58 km near to Kolappalur.
