Penu Perunthurai temple is the 64th in the series of Tevara Stalams located south of the river Kaveri.
Legend: Parvati, Bhrama and Subramanyar worshipped Shiva here. Subramanyar recovered his power of speech here.
Temple: This small temple has massive walls surrounding it. Subramanya is enshrined here as Dhandayudapani. There is an image of Bhikshatana in this temple to whom special worship is carried out in the month of Chittirai in the asterism of Bharani. This temple faces the east and has a small rajagopuram. The temple has shrines dedicated to Ganesha, Murugan, Gajalakshmi and the Navagrahams. The niches have images of Narthana Ganapati, Dakshinamurthy, Lingodbhavar, Bhrahma and Durga.
