Soma Biswas is a celebrated Indian athlete who lives in Kolkata, India. She was born on 16th May in the year 1978 in Ranaghat, situated in the state of West Bengal. Soma Biswas is a specialised athlete in the heptathlon, which is s a track and field athletics combined events contest made up of 7 events. She has participated at the Asian Games held at Busan, South Korea in the year 2002. She won the silver medal at the tournament. Another silver medal came from her participation at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. However Biswas managed to win the 110m hurdles, the 200m and the 800m during that heptathlon.
Women athletes along with Soma Biswas were Sushmita Singha Roy and Krishna Poonia who glorified India as they won gold, silver and bronze respectively. It was at the time of the last part of a highly frustrating day, the trio fined unexpectedly medals to bring some cheer in the Indian camp.
