Rohit Roy popular actor of the small screen shot to fame with the `angry young man` portrayal in the much popular soap Swabhimaan. With his reasonably good looks and easy going demeanor he seems to be the perfect pick of the producers for depicting romantic roles. His acting career took off after his appearance in the serial Swabhimaan. He was a fairly good student and after graduating with Physics as a major subject, he was all set to go to America for pursuing MBA but unfortunately he was not granted a student visa. He was then working during the inter-regnum as an assistant director for Kunal Kapoor who is a reputed ad filmmaker. Following that he took up offers to model and soon Anant Belani who offered him the lead role in a movie names Jazbaat spotted him. Though that film did not create waves in the box office, Rohit Roy decided that his passion and ambition both lies in acting. His career took a major turn when he was offered the role of Risabh Malhotra and it became a household name across the length and breadth of the nation.

After a span of four years of the huge success of Swabhimaan , Rohit acted in a sitcom called Baat ban jaye on the channel Zee. He was also the director of the second season of the same show for about 52 episodes. Since then Rohit has acted in numerous shows across various channels and also hosted a number of live events and game shows including The Price is Right on Channel Nine, Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee Television, Dance Divas on Zoom Entertainment, Houzee on Play TV and currently Wild Ten on Zee Music. His role in another popular political soap called Sarrkkar on Zee Television also composed by the popular author Shobha De won him several awards. Shobha De also touted as the hottest male on the small screen. Presently he is playing the male lead on a popular daily titled Viraasat directed by Ravi Chopra for Star Plus. This serial is all about the how the love between the two protagonists played by Rohit Roy and Sangeeta Ghosh tries to bring two warring families together. In this soap he is quite unlike the angry young man who truly believes in the power of love. He also gets the opportunity to work with the renowned filmmaker like Ravi Chopra. It was the channel Star that recommended his name to Ravi Chpra who at that time was scouting for the cast of his serial. When faced with the question why he appears on very few shows in the telly, he remarks that he is very choosy about which serial to take up and especially averse to do candyfloss stuff. From a long time Rohit Roy has been making forays on the silver screen. He has already made his appearance felt in Sanjay Gandhi`s Plan, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena of Pritish Nandy Communications. Among his forthcoming movies are Honeymoon by Meghna Gulzaar where he is paired with Esha Deol and Fardeen Khan and also Sanjay Gandhi`s Alibagh. His achievements in all the various roles have earned him many rewards. Recently his role of Phattu in the film Shootout at Lokhandwala was appreciated by one and all. The first turning point of his life came when he lost his father. He was a child till then and had to grow up overnight. His father was his hero and after him he grew closer to his mother than ever before and realized how strong she was mentally. With immense courage she brought up two children single handedly. He gives all the credit of his success to his mother. He also thinks that his cancellation of visa has acted as a boon to him. Has his visa not gone rejected he would have been a nameless face somewhere in USA. He has learnt the most important lesson in his life that every rejection is not necessarily bad for one. The most memorable role in his career is the one in Swabhimaan and Sarrkkar. He transformed from an angry young boy from one to an angry young man in the next. The day his daughter Kiara was born, it led to his becoming the actor of substance. Till this time he was happy being a star but from that day onwards he started taking the craft of acting seriously. He doesn`t want anyone to tell his daughter that he is a bad actor. Ten years down the line he would like to see himself as an actor director of some repute who would have made some good films that his family and friends will be proud of. The books titled `A Stone for Danny Fisher` and `Fountain Head` are two books, which left an indelible mark on his mind, and he hopes to make a film on the subject of the former book one day. Among his favorite films are `Rebel without a Cause`, `Arth`, `Deewar` and `Zinda`. He has seen the first movie about a thousand times and is sure about the fact that all teenagers go through that phase. About the popular director Mahesh Bhatt he has high regards and considers that none can handle relation in the way he does. About the last film he feels that it is much ahead of his time and the performances by all the lead characters is of very high quality. He also claims that he does not have lust for anything else as much as he does have for films. He wants to be involved in every aspect of filmmaking and prays to the Almighty that he dies with his film boots on. He along with his wife has also formed a production company and they are hosting reality shows at present. He claims he is just the poster boy for this project. It is actually the second baby of his wife as she is the brain behind this.

Rohit Roy is also very passionate about cricket and it is not only that he watches the match closely but also loves playing the game. He is a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar but his all time favorites are Sunil Gavaskar and Imran Khan. He has also treasured a signed cap from Gavskar. He is also passionate about Saurav Ganguly and has sent notes of congrats whenever the cricketer has made good scores. He has also played with him at a celebrity match about five years back. He is also fond of Ganguly as a person. He can identify him, as an individual who has emerged victorious amongst the toughest situations. He was so fond of this cricketer that he also carried a campaign to bring Ganguly back in the team. He personally felt that injustice has been meted out to Ganguly and that people should be protective towards him. He also feels that Saurav should be given a chance as everybody goes through a bad patch and recovers soon after.
