Indian gooseberry is a marvel of a herb and one of the valued gifts of nature to humankind. It lends vastly towards wellness and longevity. Ayurvedic physicians and hakims use this herb very frequently in their medicines and consider it as a medicine for heart and other health problems. They also advise its external administration, because of its cooling and astringent attributes.

The fruit is bitter, cooling, freshening and purgative. It increases the volume of urine. The unrefined fruit is a gentle laxative. The flowers of the tree are cooling, revitalising and mild laxative. The root and bark of the tree are useful in checking secretion or haemorrhage. A tablespoon each of fresh gooseberry juice and honey blended together is an exceedingly priceless medicine for treating various ailments. Its everyday usage each morning boosts heartiness in the body within just a few days. When fresh fruit is not available, dry powder can also be mixed with honey for consumption.

Respiratory Disorders healed by Indian gooseberry
Indian gooseberry is beneficial in the treatment of respiratory illnesses. It is particularly worthy in tuberculosis of the lungs, asthma and bronchitis.

Diabetes cured by Indian gooseberry
This herb, due to its high vitamin C content, is valuable in moderating diabetes.
