It is popular in Jodhpur, Rajasthan and the two locations for this celebration are the Mehrangarh Fort.

The occasion of displaying to the world the latest developments in the field of art and culture in the royal district of Jodhpur is known as Marwar Festival. During this festival cultural shows are organized. These shows bring out the essential Rajasthan. The locations of the grand festival are the Mehrangarh Fort and the Umaid Bhawan Palace. Both these historical buildings in Rajasthan are integral parts of the history of Jodhpur. Marwar Festival in Rajasthan is generally held in the month of October. It was previously known as the `Maand Festival.` this name was derived from the folk music that portrays the romantic lifestyle of the Rajputs.

Marwar Festival, Rajasthan The fortress city of Jodhpur is illuminated with lights during the Marwar Festival. Both the forts are majestically decorated. Every care is taken to recreate the glory of the by-gone days. Folk singers and dancers from the region gather here to display their talents. Festivals like these are instrumental introducing the travelers, both national and international, to the rich cultural heritage of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Interestingly lots of people gather at the fort and the palace to enjoy the performances. As the festival begins the open skies reverberate with the enthralling music.

The classical performances that take place are of the Marwar region. This is the probable reason why it is called the Marwar Festival. The dances and songs are based on myths and legends. Other than these several competitions and sports, such as horse polo and horse riding are also arranged for. The full moon of Sharad Purnima adds to the charm of Marwar Festival, Rajasthan.
