Imbued with a noble mission of throwing light of education to young and poor women for their empowerment and growth, Rev. Mother Cesira Gallina, an enthusiastic Italian Missionary from Italy, nurtured the idea of establishing the Auxilium College. It was founded on July 1,1954. Although it had a humble start with only sixty seven students and twelve staff members, now it has completed almost fifty years with a current strength of nearly two thousand and fifteen hundred students on roll, both in morning and evening sessions, along with 125 staffs and 80 managerial and supportive staff members. Auxilium College offers 14 undergraduate and 8 postgraduate courses. Undergraduate Courses are B.A. in Branch I History, B.A. in Branch XII English, B.Sc. in Branch I Mathematics, B.Sc. in Branch III Physics, B.Sc. in Branch IV Chemistry, B.Sc. in Branch VI Zoology, B.Sc. in Branch XI Biochemistry, B.Sc. in Branch XII Computer Science, B.Sc. in Branch XIII Microbiology, B.Sc. in Physical Education, Health Education and Sports, B.Com., B.B.A. and B.C.A.

Option also is open so that students can take admission to postgraduate courses. These include-- M.A. in English, M.Sc. in Mathematics, M.Sc. in Chemistry, M.Sc. in Computer Science, M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, M.Sc. in Electronic Media, M.Com., Masters in Social Work (M.S.W.) and Vocational Courses. In September 2003, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), awarded this college with quite a high institutional score of 90 to 95%. Auxilium College is focused not only on the objective of imparting higher education to a great scale, but also tries to make the students socially responsible.

Every department of Auxilium College consists of several associations, whose main purpose is to create a centre of academic excellence by organising workshops both at `intercollegiate, regional, state and national levels`, paper presentation, workshops, exhibitions, trips. Apart from these a multitude of industrial visits and wide variety of competitions including quiz, elocution, essay, drawing, painting, collage, charts, posters and so on are held.

The English Literary Association, The Tamil Association, The Hindi Association, The History Association, The Mathematics Association, The Chemistry Association, The Zoology Association, The Commerce Association, The Physics Association, The Biochemistry Association, The Computer Science Association, The Microbiology Association, The Physical Education Association, The Business Administration Association, The Electronic Media Association deserve mentioning.

Few skilled based clubs of Auxilium College like Debators club, Fine Arts Clubs, Health Club, IT Quest Club, Journalism Club, Karate Club, Quiz Club have developed within the years.

Auxilium College offers enthusiastic students plenty of opportunities for physical training, so that their talents can be blossomed and nurtured. Since 2001 the Department of Physical Education offers a 3-year B.Sc. Degree Course.

Auxilium College consists of thirteen teams of various sports like- Hockey, Handball, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Shuttle Badminton, Ball Badminton, Cricket, Chess and Athletics. Coaching on regular basis is held for the student`s improvement. Even individual courts and fields have been built for training the sports enthusiasts. Over the years, `Ball Badminton Courts, Basketball Courts, Handball Court, Kabaddi Courts, Kho-Kho Courts, Shuttle Courts, Volleyball Courts, Cricket Pitch, Hockey Field, Football Field, Non-standard 400 m 6-lane track, Long Jump Pit, High Jump Pit, Triple Jump Pit, Discus, Javelin, Shot Put and Hammer Throw Areas ` have been constructed for the athlete`s betterment.

To top it all, a huge indoor stadium encircling a total area of almost 12,100 sq. ft has been constructed with all the necessary facilities including an exclusive gym for weightlifting, `two Shuttle Courts, Volleyball Court, Basketball Court, Table Tennis tables, Physical Directors` Room, Dressing Room, Equipment Room, Yoga Room, Toilets and Bathing Rooms and a Mini Physical Education Library`. Besides one can also use several sports instruments like Chess Boards, Carom Boards, Roman Rings, Horizontal Bar, Dumb Bells, Table, Hurdles and Hoops. Sports Day is celebrated every year and to motivate the students, they are given special awards on that day. The sports scholarships awarded are- Don Bosco Scholarship, Mary Mazzarello Scholarship and Dominic Savio Scholarship.
