Shib Shankar Paul is a right-handed batsman of West Bengal Cricket team. He is also known as `Buro`. He was born on November 4, 1981 in Tufanganj, West Bengal.

This right-arm medium bowler has also played for Indian Board President`s XI team. Shib Shankar Paul is a strongly built cricketer, who attracted the attention with his consistent performances for Bengal team in the Ranji Trophy. The selectors gave him the chance to prove his talent in the East Asia tour in August 2004. He overwhelmed everybody with his self-control and ability to hit the deck. This performance gave him a place in the fourth Test against Australia at Mumbai in 2004/05.

Shib Shankar Paul had his debut in the "First-class" matches in 2000/01. He has played in overall 50 "First-class" matches with an average of 4.51. Shib Shankar`s total score in these matches is 158 runs and his highest score in any of these matches is 18 runs. While in bowling, he has picked up 191 wickets by giving 4573 runs from 9921 balls he played in the "First-class" matches. Shib Shankar Paul`s bowling average is 23.94 and economy is 2.76. He played his latest "First-class" match against South Zone Cricket team from February 3 to 6 in 2008, which was held at Mumbai.

In the "List A" matches, Shib Shankar Paul debuted in 2000/01. He has played in overall 53 "List A" matches with an average of 3.11. His total score in these matches is 28 runs. Shib Shankar`s maximum score in the "List A" matches is 12 runs. Whereas in bowling, he has taken 74 wickets by losing 1857 runs from 2546 balls. Shib Shankar Paul` s bowling average is 25.09 and economy is 4.37 in the "List A" matches. He played his latest "List A" match against Karnataka on March 17, 2007, which was held at Dharamsala.

Shib Shankar Paul debuted in the "Twenty20" matches against Assam team on April 3 in 2007, which was held at Kolkata. He has played in altogether eight "Twenty20" matches. His total score in these matches is 6 runs with an average of 3.00. Shib Shankar`s maximum score in any of the "Twenty20" matches is 4 runs and his striking rate is 100.00. While with ball in hand, he has picked up total 12 wickets by giving 184 runs from 187 balls he played in the "Twenty20" matches. The bowling average of Shib Shankar Paul is 15.33 and economy is 5.90 in these matches. He played his latest "Twenty20" match against Mumbai team on April 19 in 2007, which was held at Ahmedabad.

He is one of the few players for Bengal called up by the Indian team along with Rohan Govaskar in the last few years.
