Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam is an annual festival at Yanam Sivalayam celebrated for twenty days in the month of Magha, Month In Hindu Calendar that is in the month of January to February in the Georgian Calendar.
Kalyaam in Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam
Kalyaam in Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam will be performed on Magha Suddha Dvadasi that is on the twelfth day of the festival. Lord`s holy consort is Goddess Sri Rajarajeswari Ammavaru.
Lord Sri Rajarajeswara Temple at Yanam
Lord Sri Rajarajeswara Temple at Yanam is located on the bank of Atreya Godavari (also known as Corangi River). Lord Sri Rajarajeswara Temple at Yanam was built by the Chalukya kings of Rajamahendravaram (Rajahmundry) in the 15th century. The sculptures of that period are present in Lord Sri Rajarajeswara Temple at Yanam.
Kalyanotsavam Festival
Kalyanotsavam Festival is celebrated in the month of Magha (January to February) every year by the people of Yanam. The festival commences on Magha Suddha Padyami, Lord Sri Rajarajeswara will be made bridegroom and then a procession on streets with different chariots each day occurs and Kalyaanam, Rathotsavam and Trisulatirtham are the important events of the festival.
Vahana Samprokshana in Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam Vahana Samprokshana is a ritual cleansing of the chariot, which will be done by priests everyday for each Vahanam used for procession. During the festival days, the devotees come to Yanam to receive the blessings of Lord.
Penli Kumarudu Utsavalu in Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam This marks the beginning of the festival. The Lord`s chariot procession will also commence from this day. Then a procession on streets with different chariots each day occurs for ten days until Lord`s Kalyanotsavam.
Pushpaka Vahanamin Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam Lord is made as bridegroom for his Kalyaanam and Vahanam of the day will be Pushpaka Vahananam. The Sponsor of the day will be Vudattu family and currently held by Vudattu Sambamurty.
Pushpaka Vahanam in Yanam Sri Rajarajeswara Kalyanotsavam On the second day of the Kalyannotsavam Festival, Vahanam of the day will be Pushpaka Vahanam, Pushpaka Chariot. The sponsor of the day will be Chekuri family and currently held by Chekuri Ramarao.
