The cards represents taking a stand in life / awakening to new possibilities / feeling you inner conviction and need / washing away sins and guilt. Usually this card depicts for us to face our past (dead way before) and make firm decision to accept it or change it. It may be a very hard decision and can range from forgiving someone, to leaving an abusive spouse.
