Gulab Sherbet, Indian SherbetGulab Sherbet is a regular Indian Sherbet especially prepared in the summer months. It brings a cooling effect and also replenishes the body with salt and sugar. Gulab Sherbet is known for its aroma and unique taste. It is a beautiful blend of rose petals, lemon juice, sugar and cardamom seeds. Wild Rose flowers are considered better to prepare Gulab sherbet. This drink is seen being served publicly on occasions like "Guru Purab" mixed with milk or plain water.

Ingredients for Gulab Sherbet:

•Rose Petals - 1 and 1/2 cup (freshly picked)
•Boiling Water - 3/4 cup
Cardamom Seeds - 1/4th tsp
•Sugar - 3/4th cup
•Lemon Juice - 1/4th cup
•Pomegranate Juice - 2/3rd cup
•Cold Water - 5 cups

Method:
1. Crush the rose petals in a mortar and pestle and place them in a large bowl. Add the boiling water, then pour the mixture to a metal container and add cardamom seeds. Keep aside for 8 hours or overnight.
2. Pour the rose-cardamom water through a muslin lined strainer placed over a bowl. Add the sugar and float the bowl over a hot water filled sink until the sugar dissolves.
3. Remove from the hot water and filter it again. Cool it to room temperature. Combine all the ingredients in a pitcher and stir well.
4. Serve in a glass half filled with crushed ice.
