Kolhua Mela is one of the ancient colourful festivals of Indian state of Jharkhand. It is organized twice a year at Hunterganj which is a town in Chatra district of Jharkhand. The town is situated at a distance of about 190 kilometers, north of the Kolhua Hill. The fair takes place on the top of the Hill where an ancient Kali Temple is nestled. The fair is visited by a number of pilgrims and tourists from varied distant places of the state.

Celebration of Kolhua Mela
It is celebrated during the occasion of Ram Navami and Magh Vasanth Panchami. This ancient fair of Hunterganj is held on the Peak of Kolhua Mountains in an ancient kali temple. The temple is also called the temple of the "Kuleshwari Devi". The origin of this temple is not known yet by the historians. Blessed with amazing lush vegetation and pure breeze, the place of the mela is serene and picturesque. Thus apart from the temple, the beauty of this place is another attraction. The Kolhua Mela is a religious fair in Jharkhand. To attend the fair, the devotees have to trek to the top of the hill. Devotees worship the goddess and pay their homage in order to seek her blessings. They also engage in several holy rituals to please goddess Kali. This fair is considered a sacred event and is visited by people of other states as well.

During the fair, a number of temporary stalls are established that sell garments, pottery, utensils, handicrafts, shoes and other marvelous accessories. There are many swings and joy rides for the children. Traditional dancing and singing of folk songs are an integral part of Kolhua Mela. People wear new colorful clothes and participate in the fair with great enthusiasm.

Connectivity to Kolhua Mela
It is easy to reach this festival as it has decent air, rail and road connectivity. The nearest airport is Ranchi Airport. The nearest railway stations are located at Gujhandi, Gaya and Koderma. One can avail buses and taxis from the airport and all these railway stations. Hunterganj is adequately connected by road with Gaya, Koderma, Ranchi, Gujhandi, Kolkata, Patna, Mughal Sarai and other adjoining cities and states in India.
