Kuzhangal, Indian Traditional SportKuzhangal is an Indian traditional game playing mostly in indoor and outdoor. This conventional game is mostly played among the school boys and girls.

Kuzhangal is a game of 5 stones. It is believed that Kuzhangal is originated in Ancient Asia. This game came into being when Siege of Troy in 1184 B.C began.

Five stones in Kuzhangal are played by two or more players, using five small stones. The object of Kuzhangal is to complete a set of eight steps. This game increases the eye sight, memory power and builds concentration and aiming skills to every human being. This game is also called in various names like Kallangal, Anchangal etc. in villages of Tamil Nadu.

Things to play Kuzhangal
One needs to take things like 5 stones of same size to play this game. This indoor game is played by two or more players.

Procedure to play Kuzhangal
One need to play set of eight steps to complete the game. The player who completes these eight steps in minimal tries is the winner of Kuzhangal. Firstly in this game a player starts the game and if he/she misses any steps, the second player takes the turn and the second player plays the game until he/she misses any step while playing this game. Once all the players in set completes playing, the second round of this indoor game starts, the stones goes to the first player. After that the first player starts the game from the step that he missed while playing the first round and the game continues. The player who completes all the eight rounds first is the winner of the game.

Steps to play Kuzhangal
1. Throw all five stones and this will be the state of the game. Whilst throwing a stone, pick one stone on the ground. Do this for all the stones on the ground.

2. Another player will throw all five stones. Whilst throwing a stone, pick two stones at a time. Do this for the other two also

3. Now there is a need to throw all five stones. Whilst throwing a stone, pick a combination of 3 and 1 Stones.

4. Now in the fourth step, throw all five stones. Whilst throwing a stone, pick all 4 stones

5. Whilst throwing one stone place all the four stones on the ground. Now, throw one stone again catch it whilst picking all four stones on the ground

6. In the sixth step, now there is a requirement to throw all five stones. Pick up the two stones and whilst throwing a stone, exchange the stone in hand with one on the ground. Do for all the 3 stones

7. In the seventh step, throw all five stones. Now, pick all the two stones and whilst throwing two stones. Now pick one stone on the ground and catch two falling stones with each hand. Do for all the 3 stones.

8. In the eight and the final step, throw all five stones. The opponent chooses 1 stone. Now throw the stone in the air and seep up the remaining stones. Do for all the 3 stones

Rules of Kuzhangal
The winner of the game is the one who completes all the eight steps. A player loses his/her turn if he/she fails to complete a step or touches another stone when picking up a stone.
