Description of the Orange Festival
Jampui Hills is the highest hill of the state of Tripura with an altitude of 3000 feet above the sea level. The hill offers a magnificent view of the exquisite natural beauty. The landscape around the hill is exquisitely adorned with gorges and parishes. Lush olives also dot the place. The hill also offers invigorating experiences of dusks and dawn to the tourists. It also houses a watchtower from where splendid views of surrounding nature can be obtained. In addition to these, Jampui Hills is also abundant in orange trees where the fruits can be seen blooming beautifully.
Orange festival is celebrated in the month of November when the hill is heavy with the succulent fruit growing bountifully all around. The rains in the state greatly enhance the blooming of the fruit and form a perfect ambience for celebration. In Tripura, Jampui hills remain covered with clouds during this time. The floating clouds along the hills form a picturesque backdrop for Orange festival. The festival is accompanied by great fervor and gaiety. It attracts a number of tourists from all around the country as well as from different countries and is considered to be one of the greatest carnivals of the state.
