The rich temperate landscape of rural Bengal has left a lasting impression on him which is evident in his paintings. Impacts of contemporary social, political and economic environment, interactions in day-to-day life have had a very obvious effect on his works. Religious themes too appear in his paintings. Realistic objects, incidents are often depicted in his paintings that tell sweet yet mysterious stories. His paintings show fine interplay of lines and tones. His forte is the forceful, economical and apt use of lines. His important exhibitions include Third British International Bienanale (1972), Intergrafik, Germany (1978 & 1984), Lalit Kala Akademi exhibition, Delhi (1985 & 1986) and many more.
