As per Hindu mythology, Mangala is the name of the red planet Mars. Mars is also known as Angaraka. He is the son of the Earth Goddess, Prithvi.

Mangala is considered the owner of the Aries and Scorpio signs and the teacher of the Ruchaka Mahapurusha Yoga. He is the husband of Vikesi.
